COMPOSITION OF THE HOMELESS POPULATION

According to the CCSD survey and a number of Canadian studies, women account for about 30% of the homeless population(4) and are therefore less noticeable than the men. All researchers agree, however, that this lower visibility of homeless women results from a number of factors. First, since the enumeration of the homeless is generally based on the users of services, homeless women are less evident simply because fewer services cater to them.

Men spend much more time at work than women. According to Statistics Canada, men in 2005 spent on average 6.3 hours per day doing paid work as opposed to 4.4 for women. Yes, they did less unpaid work on average per day (2.5 hours per day versus 4.3), but it evens out. On average, men spent 8.8 hours and women did 8.7 hours per day of paid and unpaid work!

Almost all of my stats are US, UK or Ireland, but have you considered having a look at /r/MRRef or /r/MRASTATS?

Warren Farrell's book "The Myth of Male Power" is also a good "go to" resource for all kinds of peer reviewed resources on virtually any MR topic. If canadian sources aren't a requirement of your brief you can still refer to US sources on the basis that US and Canadian culture aren't that dissimilar.
