Most guys now only drink socially and as they get older and spend less times with their friends they drink less, most women will drink socially when they are younger but as they get older they start drinking wine in the evening this has nothing to do with men introducing women to drinking as they suggest

is that while women can help keep their husbands’ drinking habits under control, men are simply a bad influence on their wives.

That's pretty opinionated and the results don't conclude that at all, I could also say men drink less because women are more controlling, that would be opinionated as well and has no place in studies/science.

Well, as we all know, when they get married, her money is her money ... and his money is her money ... so maybe the reason he stops drinking is that he can't afford it any more and she starts drinking because she has the money to get drunk. (said jokingly).

The reason, the researchers conclude, is that while women can help keep their husbands’ drinking habits under control, men are simply a bad influence on their wives. That is just freaking insulting. So because a man drinks less his partner suddenly starts drinking more? I don't think so that does not make any sense.

A easier explanation is women realize they can let themselves go and they can also relax more once married.

I don't see how or why they blame men. If men themselves are drinking less inside a marriage, why would that induce women to drink more? It makes no sense.

I didn't read the study, but I'll chuck this one up to "men bad, women good" syndrome.
