I'm a senior in highschool and today was the last straw. I go to a catholic school (they offer the yellow bus which is the only reason I do), and all religion classes were forced to go to a social justice activity (a bunch of feminists essentially). Every student was placed infront of a stack of papers, envelopes and pencils then the brainwashing begins. It started with a slideshow outlining what is going on in Syria. Then she began her speech on how awful the government is, that they are all racist towards Muslims because Canada has only taken 500 refugees, that they deserve this land just as much as we do, the biggest guilt trip ever. It felt that just because we weren't housing a handful of syrian children in our basement we are evil people. Aside from the fact that no one would opt out of doing it as the teachers were going around making sure everyone was writing (even some going as far as calling Stephen harper a complete moron), they began handing out candy to the people who hand in their letters. So essentially every kid who doesn't give a damn about Syrian refugees was writing handfuls of letters to the government. The next presentation was about native woman going missing. We were told that white people are going onto their reserves and killing woman and the police were covering up from them.

Never once did they give the negatives of bringing thousands of uneducated poverty stricken families, that even if we did that most likely wont solve any problems in the east. That maybe the native woman going missing is a little more complex than the idea that the whole police force is corrupt. Am i overreacting on the scenario or does anyone else think I should pursue this and keep political brainwashing out of the schools?
