What do you stand for?

Not sure what the rules are for if I should post my thoughts in the actual post or if I comment so I'll do what AskReddit does and post my thoughts here.

I'm a MRA because I fear that someday, if I'm ever successful, I could get accused of things like rape simply because people wanted the attention or money. I know it's a silly fear but if someone accuses me of it, I feel they should have the same punishment as I would have if I was convicted of it. I also saw the article on the boy not allowed to join the military simply because he was accused and it made me very nervous of joining the military because I know people who have grudges with me that would do things like that.

One word, equality. Same exact reason I bought into feminism. The facts I was presented with told me women were not being treated fairly so I listened and took the message to heart. After discovering how most of feminist points are only valid with fake or badly flawed statistics, it was a natural progression to a more fair, factual and even balanced perspective and movement. Large credit goes to gww for opening my eyes to the lies and the truth.

Mostly the whole "disposable male" thing. I don't like the idea that my life, and the life of every man in the world, is somehow viewed by society as less valuable because of my gender.

That includes things like conscription and war, telling men they have to put themselves in danger to rescue women or shaming men who don't, "women and children first", media phrases such as "women and children killed" rather than "civilians killed", teaching kids not to hit girls but teaching that hitting boys can be justified, etc. That kind of thing.

Mostly things like wanting equal treatment of children. When male children are beaten or abused, it's ignored or downplayed, but when it's a female child, a huge deal is made out of it (as it should be). So I guess that's why.

I work with young men, helping them improve and make better choices for themselves and have seen how much harder it is for them to get treatment they need over young women. I felt like that needed a voice.

For me, it is our society's complete lack of tolerance for gender nonconformity amongst males. Even self-proclaimed feminists, who claim to oppose gender roles, often express hate and disdain for gender-nonconforming males.

Because I actually believe gender-nonconformity is okay, I support the MHRM.
