It goes back to evolutionary responses. Animals will often either eat or kill their young or allow the new non bio father animal to kill the young. One of the biggest differences between animals and humans is fatherhood. Or so i have been told and often times this is used to show how patriarchy is a biological equalizing measure and this is also one of the roots of the men as polygamous memes. If animals are polygamous then why will the new male kill another males offspring? Why would a female kill her offspring when the father dies or leaves?

Why are women 5X more likely to be involved in the murder of a child than a man?

Women have power over children, that's why.
