I'm not super familiar with the law (The Family Medical Leave Act) but I believe it does have an allowance for men.

Depending on where you work they do. My friend got 6 weeks.

In the UK you get paternity leave. You will also soon be able to transfer the mothers maternity pay and leave to the husband.

In the US? Because they don't ask for it, because asking for it will make them less competitive.

You better believe that if a more qualified candidate for a job asks for paternity leave instead of some other benefit, or asks for it to be part of his compensation, that he'll be getting it (if the company he works for is effective/competent). No different than a qualified candidate asking for dental coverage.
