I’ve been noticing a lot of discussion in this sub describing qualms people have the the women’s rights movement, and how it was unneeded. An example of this would be, and this is not a quote, “Women were not actually financially oppressed back in the 30’s because their husbands/fathers were supposed to pay their debts.” While there is a problem pertaining to men there, one that is too often overlooked in hindsight, being that men must pay for the debts that their female relatives acquired, there is also a problem there for women, that being they had to rely on a man to do it for them.

I’m just saying this because I see a lot of bashing on the WRM, and while it is important to see that there are definitely issues with how it has shaped the way society views men, it also did very important things when it came to women’s autonomy.
