Well, it does say limited jewelry in good taste is permitted for males and females, so I'm guessing they are just emphasizing that it is considered to be good taste for male to wear earrings. Some people would question that. They should probably make it more clear and say that males and females can wear earrings. lol

I think think this is likely more of a ruling stating that men are allowed to wear earrings. Probably got written in after a male employee won his case concerning the wearing of earrings. We've got bigger fish to fry.

It's their company... their rules

Reminds me of when feminists complain about dress codes that forbid women from wearing sleeveless shirts.

In the restaurant and serving business that is a must. I don't want someones open armpits over or even near my food or drinks.

In our culinary classes, that went for everyone. It is unhygienic and really gross, when you think about it.

I think the only real issue here is they've gone and said outright 'males' but I do agree. I'm a guy and I've got long hair and I tie my hair back when I'm cooking and especially if I'm using a blowtorch because it's a health and safety hazard otherwise.

Not that big of a deal but I can see how it would be annoying if women didn't have to do the same, I mean in the army this is a classic example, but you see all the time how men have to shave or have their hair cut a certain way but women can have their hair as long as they want though it seems they need to have it tied back often.

I agree. I wasn't commenting on the post, just replying to the parent comment about sleeveless shirts.

Before my current job I worked in the restaurant business. I agree men should be able to have long hair as long as they properly tie it back or wear a hat. I mean, I have really long hair as a female, and if I can do it, so should you.

There's still quite a stigma against men with long hair. I find it really annoying. A perfect example is my boyfriend. I love his hair longer. It looks nice short, too, but I prefer it longer. However, anytime it's grown out and then we see a family member, no doubt we'll always hear a comment about how he needs a haircut. But, why? Because it's long? It looks good, but it's long. I dunno, it just seems really lame to me.

I think in the military you're required, as a female to have the crop cut or to tie it back. I have a female friend in the army and for boot camp she did have to cut it. It's grown out now and she wears it back, but she also has been in the army for about 6 years now.

Ah, didn't know the exact rules for the army, but yeah this is just one of those annoying double standards out there rather than anything really serious.

Of course. Nothing to get the pitchforks out for.

[–]Revorob 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wouldn't bother me as I don't wear earrings. Having said that, the only men that do wear earrings are fags.

[–]Arby01 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the only men that do wear earrings are fags.

so? They need jobs too. And protection from discrimination solely because they are guys.
