Falsely accused and spent 2 days in jail before they even asked for my side of the story

I met this girl (let's call her Denise) that I thought was super awesome, and we went on a couple of dates. Three or four weeks into dating her we had VERY consensual sex at my house and I was on cloud nine. I am very emotionally closed off and it is very rare for me to allow a connection to grow with someone enough to become intimate. I woke up that morning feeling incredible and kissed her goodbye. As she walked out the door she turned to me, smiled, and said "I had an awesome time last night, can't wait to see you again!". That was the last thing she ever said to me. I sent her a txt the following evening asking if she wanted to spend some time together during the week. No response. I didn't think much of it, and after a few more days went by I thought I'd try again so I sent one more text seeing if she wanted to do something. Again, no response. I thought it was weird and out of character for her, or maybe she had some things going on. She didn't owe me anything, so while I'm against people ghosting each other, I left it at that and put her in my rear view mirror. She could have said any number of things as an excuse to be done with me and I wouldn't have been bothered, but it felt so weird to not get any kind of response at all when we left on such good terms.

A little over a month goes by and I get a call from a police officer. He tells me that I need to come into the station for an interview about a case he is working on. I don't really break any rules so I had no idea what this could have been about, and was quite positive it was going to be some kind of misunderstanding. I go to the police station and the detective tells me that Denise went to them and told them I raped her the night we slept together. I immediately lawyered up and told them I would be 100% compliant with the investigation but I want to have legal representation with me. Not even 6 hours later, there was a warrant out for my arrest. Before they asked me a single question about what happened that night.

I ended up spending 2 days in jail, and without going into detail it was the worst experience of my life. I was never in any danger, but it was the most miserable place you could imagine. I had nothing but my thoughts for 2 full days in this cell. I didn't sleep, I didn't eat. I just sat and counted little bumps on the wall until I eventually got out on bond. It blows me away that all it takes is a girl pointing a finger saying this and that happened without a SHRED of evidence, and that is enough to have an innocent person locked away. I cared about this girl and would never do something like this to anyone. I thought we had a connection, and she goes to the authorities with some insane accusation.

My world has been completely flipped upside down all because this girl decided to spin this story. It is completely unfair that this is happening, and even more unfair that nothing is going to happen to Denise. I spent time in jail because of a lie she told, and when this is over people still might look at her as a victim. I am going to have to fight tooth and nail to prove I'm innocent all over something that never even happened. It makes me sick to my stomach that someone could do this to another person, and even more sick that today's social climate allows things like this to happen.

I'm not sure what I expect to get out of posting here, but this has been consuming my life and I haven't been able to tell anyone about it. I've locked myself in my house and only leave to go to work and then I come right back home. All I want to do is ask Denise how she could do this, but if I contact her in any way I get sent to prison. I'm trying to stay positive in all of this, and the only thing keeping me upbeat is taking solace in the fact that I know I did nothing wrong.
