Reading through various manosphere blogs forums, etc, I couldn't help but notice some men seem to have put Snoopy on a pedestal. Snoopy is loyal, always by your side. This is the narrative.
Is s/he?
I am a lifetime dog owner, having toy dog breeds, a golden retriever, boxers and adopted strays. If I had to guess, I'd say I've had about ten dogs during my lifetime.
Out of these ten dogs, only two dogs have come close to being described as loyal.
These two dogs were larger mixbreed strays. One would walk with me for miles, not on a leash, and return home to wait on the porch deck for me if he tired of walking. He would wait on me.
The other dogs would gladly go with whoever had the best treats so they could not be trusted off leash. Neighborhood grilling, gone and content to be gone as long as the food was better.
In a way, this reminds me of what TRP describes as female, human hypergamy. Sure my dog food brand is premium, but not a match for the guy nextdoor sharing his grilled delicacy.
I find it strange the way some RP guys give Snoopy a free pass when s/he behaves exactly as they describe women..always ready to leave for better food, bigger yard, more pampering.
NADALT of course. But dogs have evolved to be endearing to humans, not because they love us, but because of what we provide them with. We in turn have bred them to have endearing qualities such as big round eyes and less wolf-like feathers.
But in the end, Snoopy plays us and we cater to him in hopes that he will "love" us more than the guy down the road who is feeding his Snoopy grilled hamburger patties.
