Work on yourself. If you have standards that are too high then just simply be and let life happen. Garner some friendships, live some life, and experience some things. Getting caught up on that "special feeling" is the wrong way to go about it in my opinion.

I met my fiancee 9 years ago. We have been together for 3. We both have had several relationships between then and 3 years ago. It took knowing our respective selves in order to have a mutual trust and understanding. It's still work, but it's worth it because I know she has my back and I have hers.
