Given how selective online dating is for men, why do men still create online profiles with shitty poorly lit selfies? Why don't they pay 5$ to have someone on fiverr photoshop it, or $500 to get someone to take some actual good photos? It seems like men will do literally anything to get laid except get a good photograph taken.

I get that men don't have social permission to have photographs taken of themselves, but at some point it would seem that self-interest would trump that social pressure.
