And, of course, seeing as people of all ethnicities, including all the white ethnicities, have been mixing, saying you're 'biologically German' would mean even less now than it did in the 20th century. We do know that in the last 18,000 years the Rb1 YDNA haplotype surfaced, and today is most concentrated in Western Ireland, and spreads outwards into the Atlantic and Northern Europe from there. This is the most 'Irish' biological factor I can think of, and you can trace ancestral Irish ethnicity through that gene, through the generations and millions of 'Irish' people. Of course, this doesn't always lead to obvious expressions in the phenotype.

So what the fuck good is trying to be 'ethnically Irish' in looks when identifying if you have Rb1 or not would exceed any other metric should you ever need to know for some medical reason if you're 'ethnically Irish'.

I just don't see the point of reducing 'Irish' to a stereotype ginger, even though that's not the majority.

Uh, no, since I'm against implying a mutual exclusivity of ethnicities to a citizenship. My point is that you can't say that Irish, in terms of nationality, is 'one' ethnicity (and, excuse me being a bit pedantic here, but 'African' represents a whole lot of different ethnicities).

Ethnicities are real, they're also fluid, and they're dependent on things like genetic markers and a history. This is true.

Nationalities, however, are extremely loosely based on ethnicity only because of what they looked like at their conception. Nationalities, like countries, however, are a matter of convention, they are recognised by institutions and the membership of someone for that nationality is a matter of a database, their cohesion in a society depending on social values and norms. None of these things are particularly genetic, thus only related to ethnicity by association and tradition, and not actual, sacrosanct bonds.

Sure, in terms of "nationality", anyone that can obtain approval and a rubber stamped piece of paper from a group of human beings in a building somewhere can be of "Irish" nationality and a citizen of the nation of Ireland but like I said before that doesn't actually make them Irish and doesn't change their biology, their ancestral heritage etc.

Well of course, Africa is a huge continent, it's absolutely massive. This just highlights the question of why do people from Africa, who have more land and resources than they could ever use, need to come and populate tiny little places like Ireland? Why should a school choir in a little town on a little island in north western Europe look like this? Why can't European people just have our own native lands where we've existed for thousands and thousands of years? The land and population we have is already minuscule in comparison to the rest of the world. There are literally billions and billions of black, brown and east Asian people all with their own gigantic territories of land. We are a very unique and steadily decreasing minority and we've contributed so much to the world. We just want to be left alone in our own homes. We just want our people to have a future, to continue to exist and to keep their ancient homes, languages, cultures and traditions alive. We just want a future for ourselves and for our children. Is that too much to ask?

Reducing to, in the way you used it, would be like saying 'You're reducing all soldiers to jarheads?' because I said soldiers include jarheads, which would be, factually, wrong. Synechdoche is the word you're looking for.

And they would be, to any and all, 'Irish'. It's like saying that your wife isn't a true thealtright's last name because she doesn't have your biology. Truth is that in changing or acquiring citizenship you are signing the social contract in which you abide by laws and become, in all the ways it matters, Irish. They are Irish citizens to the world and to its citizens. To say they're not Irish 'biologically' is ridiculous considering how I'm sure you wouldn't be able to, without examining for genetic markers, be able to distinguish a 'biological' Irish man from a 'biologically'/ancestrally Englishman that's third generation Irish, and you wouldn't look at him and say 'No, you're not Irish', because that's dumb.

This will be enough. Well, a few thoughts. 1.) That's kinda strange to say given, well, all of human history. America's the prime example of places that didn't have white people and now do. At what point in history did it become 'theirs'? When it was colonised, through violence, and legitimised, through violence. We constantly inhabit non-native lands, it's how there are white populations in South Africa, Hong Kong, Greece, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, America...

I mean, the world populations change, no race is inherently good or bad. You constantly make it a 'we' vs 'them' thing, and I see the same thing with racists in my country. And they too would say...

We just want our people to have a future, to continue to exist and to keep their ancient homes, languages, cultures and traditions alive. We just want a future for ourselves and for our children. Is that too much to ask?

Which always strikes me as odd, as they find every opportunity to ridicule their own traditions, if they're aware of them at all, and simply adopt whatever the fuck comes from America, which is doing far more to commit cultural genocide than black/Asian families in 'white' countries. That school choir isn't there to honour white ancestors, they're there to sing praises to God (judging by the garb), and that's what unites them, not race. You have a future, your children too. What you want is for their future and yours to be just like your past, 'before the blacks came', even though things were different before your time anyway. It's like wanting to government to go back to the 'good ol' days' of wicker oil lamps in streets and homes. Why? That was culturally yours before the American Edison pushed his ways onto us.

Maybe? Depends on quality of life, probably, but lots of natives in their land sell out or over-use resources. Quality of life and society is far more relevant, which is why so many feel the bond to their land, as nostalgic as they may feel, wouldn't be enough to keep them there if it means they can have more stability for them and their children.

No, there is no "ethnic American." You can call native Americans that if you want but it's stupid because they didn't build America. "America" wasn't a thing before the English and Dutch came.

And no one does this for anyone except non whites living in white countries. That's why it annoys people. No one calls white people "Liberian" or "Chinese" or "Indian" because they live in those countries. But there's a constant, concerted effort to call blacks and Muslims and such "Irish" and "Swedish" and "German" and blah blah blah. It's just yet another thing that's being pushed all over the place to displace whites in their own homelands, and it's getting more obvious by the day, to the point where more and more people are noticing.

Well then, would you say the Romans of Romulus would be the same Italians, or Romans (which people still call themselves) actually ancestrally the same thing? Even Ireland, as a country or nation or whatever, existed thousands of years after the 'Irish' ethnicity. America was always a continent with its own cultures and people, but it wasn't a 'thing' until it became colonised and recognised as a defined territory, and later on a sovereign nation. It's all convention. I don't think you really understand just how much the world has changed since the fuedal eras in terms of 'nations'.

Not because they simply live there, but because they're citizens. You're showing your bias here, but as someone not form somewhere 'historically white' like the UK or Sweden I see foreign nationals becoming naturalised to our own nationality often enough. Have been for decades and they're largely blended in, really.

And it's so fucking dumb using ethnicity to define a nationality. My ancestral line has been around on this land longer than the nation as an entity by a large margin, and some others significantly longer than that, but I get asked if my parents were foreigners all the time, even by actual foreigners, despite having been here for centuries, and close by for possibly longer.

So people can't tell, by my 'ethnicity', that I'm more local than most, and English or Swedish or Russian whatever have blended in and have descendants that are, for all intents and purposes, the same nationality as me.
