I'm not required to be nice. What if I have an issue walking and standing? What if I have a slipped disk to where standing and balancing on that train/subway is excruciating? What if I just got foot surgery and standing for an extended period isn't comfortable?

I wouldn't go on a train and demand special treatment. If the act of riding the train/bus/subway would cause me such discomfort that I would need to disrupt other passengers to take their seat, I'd take the fucking taxi. Would it be a nice gesture for someone to give up their seat for me? Sure. Yet I sure as shit wouldn't walk on that train expecting someone to do so.

Also, him being simply comfortable and not wanting to stand is a perfectly acceptable answer. He doesn't owe her shit and there is no law. It's like letting a person in the checkout line with one item in front of you if you have a basket full. Sure, it's nice. But not required.

I would give up my seat voluntarily because I am nice and have no real need to sit down. However, if someone demanded or asked me for my seat, fuck off.
