Outline for those who don't want to go to the link: To curb down the misuse of gender protection laws, the Bombay high court recently imposed a fine of Rs 25 lakh INR (~$35000) on a woman and her husband, who threatened to file a false molestation case against a Mumbai based company over Trademark infringement.

Edit: I'm noticing many people are being ignorant here and saying "how it should not be counted as it's India". Let me put in some ground facts for them:

The whole law here is the very definition of pussy pass..

1. In adultery laws women can't be punished. Only men.

2. In fake rape cases and molestation cases, men can only prove they're innocent. Usually no further action on women. Because of this many women have been lodging fake cases as they don't fear about any repercussions. In Delhi alone there were 53% fake rape cases back in 2014.

3. As per Sec 498A, a woman can simply accuse her husband and his family of asking for dowry and he can(will) be thrown to jail without any proper investigation. It has gotten so bad that court here have termed it as "legal terrorism."

4. We all know world's standards when it comes to divorce settlements and child custody. India is no different here either; if anything, it's probably worse.

5. Women are subjected to lenient punishment at times cause well, they're women!

So kindly don't comment your ignorance all over the place when you know nothing about how things actually are somewhere, just because you didn't have better source of information other than your typical "prime time news channels".

She should be jailed. Uttering threats-a guy would go to jail just for the accusation. It's a type of wrongful imprisonment.
