I feel like I am struggling balancing everything in my life right now. Primarily an emotional and physical relationship at times with my husband. He hasnt complained about this yet, but Its been something on my mind lately.
Just to add beforehand, I love my daughter more than anything in this world. Her, and my husband, are both perfect in my eyes. I just miss being able to... exist without life building up around me I guess.
Im sorry for the long rant in advance.
Backstory:
Husband and I (Both 27) had a baby 4 months ago. We both work really great as a team, he is very hands on overall with house work, the baby when I need a small break, etc. He works long hours and tries his hardest to help out with her, but with his schedule and working outside all day, he is also drained and spread pretty thin. This puts a lot of her care onto me, which Im not upset about, but it is a lot to balance while trying to keep up with everything else.
Our baby was born (possibly) with a genetic blood disorder. I say possibly because the blood specialist Ive had to take her to 3 times now at the children's hospital wants to do a final test at the end of June (when she is 6 months old) to see if her blood has gotten better, if not then we get a true diagnosis. So far, her blood hasnt gotten better, so Im not very hopeful, but trying to stay optimistic.
She also has to see a Craniologist and get a baby helmet, because her head is misshapen from her laying inside me in a weird position for my whole pregnancy. So she will need to wear one for a few months while that gets fixed! She also has Tortacollis (Due to her neck being a bit stiff, she struggles turning her head to the left), which we will start going to physical therapy for soon. This will affect my work schedule, which my company is fine with, but I will probably have to make up those hours by working after hours at home (Im salary) because of the position that I work in.
Between night wakings, getting her fed / changed / dressed in the morning, taking her to and from daycare every day and making sure she has everything she needs there, doctor appointments for her, hospital visits for her blood disorder, her upcoming craniology stuff which will also involve the Physical Therapy once a week at a private office, and taking care of her until my husband gets home from work after I get home with her, housework in general, balancing friendships, and now possibly having to work after hours for a few months because of the schedule shift:
Im exhausted. And I feel like Im not putting in as much emotional effort into mine and my husbands relationship because I have to focus so much on her, the housework, my job, all of it. I dont want to ask my husband for help because a lot of these things he just physically cannot help with due to his work schedule (He works around the state every day, so he is never in the same spot twice).
By the time we get her to bed, I dont want to do anything but pass out. We used to go on dates regularly, watch movies together, travel and goof off all the time, etc. But now we both just fall asleep and barely talk about anything other than our baby.
Husband and I have only gone on 1 date in the last 4 months. Our sitter lives 40 minutes away and is the only one we trust to watch her right now, so planning dates is incredibly hard. Especially when the weekends are the only time we really get to just sit at home and just... exist without holidays or family events or whatever else is going on.
I guess Im asking; should I try to plan more dates? Is there something at home I could be doing different? I just miss feeling giddy with my husband and us being goofy together.
I just want to ensure I am making him happy and fulfilled in our relationship. I dont want us to end up drifting apart because we fail to put effort into eachother.
