'Though a “boomer” - my parents were in their mid- to late 30s when I was born, and they grew up during the depression - I wasn’t reared as a “typical” boomer. As a consequence, I was not coddled. It amazes me to see the low tolerance level and lack of self-sacrifice amongst the majority of America’s population, starting in the 1960s. The America of today would not have either the leadership nor the population (meaning the will and mindset of the population) to win WWII today.

I think - and this will bring on the bombs, just wait and see - that we need the draft re-instated (serving in the military turns BOYS into MEN)…

AND…

(THIS will REALLY bring on the hate comments):

Women should NEVER have been given the right to vote (because they are too damned STUPID)!!!!!

And *I* say this as a person who has a B.A. degree and am a member of Mensa, and have other accomplishments due to what some would call “giftedness.”

Women in general - yes, EVEN today - are too emotional and not strong/tough enough when circumstances call for it… as exemplified by the original question that prompted all these answers. I’m sorry, but MY initial reaction to this woman’s umbrage at her child being given 15 pushups was disdain, disgust - and despair, watching an adult woman emasculate her own son.

So now I’ll watch for all the incoming nuclear attacks because of my comments.

I feel very sorry for today’s men (referring to those who ARE actually men), as they’ve been virtually p-whipped into oblivion… and I won’t EVEN go into the competitiveness of women against men, as if they (women) were in some HERCULEAN battle against men to prove JUST HOW: Smart, strong (physically and emotionally), clever, psychologically and intellectually superior they are as women compared to men. And THEN they wonder why they can’t find a “soulmate.” WHAT is it women want???? No man could possibly ever figure this out.

Granted, “some” things needed to be changed from the way they were in the 1950s (equal pay for equal work; equal opportunity, etc.), but as all things in life, the pendulum has swung too far in the opposite direction.

And please, Dear Reader, I KNOW not all men (nor ALL women) fall into the GENERALIZATIONS I’ve stated in my response.'

Of course, Quora being a blue pilled place, our very obviously red pilled friend had to give the last statement. This only shows how the world has deteriorated into a shithole today and we men must find our own purpose to rise up.
