tl;dr Be busy.
For many men, being single sucks. Or at least it feels like it sucks. We yearn for things like companionship, sex, and love. Yet because we reek with vibes of clinginess and neediness that come from being alone, we descend into a downward spiral of hopelessness.
The first step in your journey of bachelorhood is to accept the fact that being single has many perks, including the fact you:
-
save money
-
save time
-
have freedom and flexibility in your life
-
have independence
-
have less distractions
-
have fewer responsibilities
These are concrete reasons why the single life is desirable, however simply acknowledging these won't obviously cure your yearning. What you need to do is use your time wisely. Get busy with hobbies, school, work, learning, expanding your network, making money, working out, and hitting on women in real life.
By immersing yourself in activities such as these, you will not only become more desirable, you will also avoid the existential dread that comes with boredom and idleness. For boredom and idleness are what drive us to become needy in our ways and debilitates us with our success with women.
Here are some simple activities you can do to occupy your mind as well as improve your situation:
-
Go on a run
-
Take a course at your local university/work on your next degree
-
Read a book at a local coffeeshop
-
Browse sites like meetup where you can find groups of people to socialize
-
Research the stock market and begin investing
-
Get your realtor's license
Here are some things I'd advise against getting involved in and doing:
-
Dedicating all your free time to online dating. Online dating is a pit of despair when it comes to the time spent vs output received. Only the outlier of men do well on it. I wouldn't advise cutting it out completely because you may get some matches, but I also wouldn't advise relying on it as your main source to meet women. Daygame, nightgame, and social circle game both work on yourself as well as produce results with regard to meeting women.
-
Multi-level marketing schemes. I simply don't trust them. You have to have a certain personality to succeed in those as well as a network of resources at your disposal.
-
Social media. You can waste hours seeing the highlights of people's lives and feel sick because you are not attaining the same types of successes as they are. However you don't see all the crap they go through as well.
-
Sleeping more than necessary. It is both unhealthy for your mind and your body. While it may feel good, ultimately you are robbing yourself of time you could be spending living your life.
As a single man, you should be getting busy. Prepping yourself for a better life as well as embracing the fact that you have so much opportunity in front of you. You have and always will have new stuff to work on, new challenges to confront, and new problems to face. But as long as you are making a conscious and deliberate effort in the right direction, and being smart about it, things will work themselves out.
Existential dread and fear of being forever alone only manifest themselves in states of boredom and idleness. Be active, get out there, and by living a life worth living you will see that being single has its perks.
