"Cry, the beloved country, for the unborn child that is the inheritor of our fear. Let him not love the earth too deeply. Let him not laugh too gladly when the water runs through his fingers, nor stand too silent when the setting sun makes red the veld with fire. Let him not be too moved when the birds of his land are singing, nor give too much of his heart to a mountain or a valley. For fear will rob him of all if he gives too much."

-Cry, the Beloved Country

I read this book when I was 16 years old and this quote has always stuck with me. I think it's relevance can be expanded into RP philosophy, and hope others can think about it and get something from it too.

This is the way I expand it as far as RP mindset goes comes from what I experienced with my last LTR of 4 years, that I did not handle properly, with a blue pill mindset and only splashes of accidental red pill actions.

The heart of the quote, the last sentence, "For fear will rob him of all if he gives too much." Is primarily what I would like to discuss. This is what I have found to be true. If you give a woman too much of yourself, and too much of your heart, a fear will grow in you. This fear takes over and starts to nag at you to all end. You lose all control in the relationship and turn into an emotional hostage.

Now, a lot of people seem to get confused on how to go about a LTR with a red pill mindset, this is how I see it. You are going to want to have someone to confide in, and you are going to want someone to be able to help you in your times of trouble as well, but for a lot of newcomers to the RP mindset, being 'alpha' does not entail these qualities.

It can though. In a LTR you are going to have to allow yourself to open up and become vulnerable at some point. This is okay, so long as you do not give yourself away too quickly. The whole thing that makes (should make) relationships significant is that action of the man opening up and letting himself become a little more vulnerable to the woman. This is a thing that is taken foregranted by nearly every single woman today - with our strange society that provokes men to always spill their guts out to their woman and talk to them and share everything with them, the effeminate male is becoming trendy, when it is clear that this is the quickest way to turn a woman away.

It should be a significant and notable thing to your partner that you are confiding in them and becoming vulnerable to them for whatever reason. This can not be something that happens frequently. When you find a girl that fits you, when you take that knee - when you put yourself in that stance of vulnerability and humility, she should know that it is something incredibly significant!

If you give your heart away and you share yourself with someone too quickly and too frequently, actions of vulnerability and humility will never be seen as anything significant, and will only be taken as something on par with just 'who you are'. That is blue pill.
That is what will make a woman turn away. But this is what a lot of men do! And they live in fear because of it.

It is okay to give some of your heart to a woman. You have to. The trick is to not release the flood gates. Keep yourself to yourself as much as you can. Be the Oak Tree. Exercise red pill characteristics and show value. Be someone she wants and respects. Then, the times that you DO put yourself in a position of vulnerability, and you seek her to confide in or for some emotional support, she will literally just be grateful you sought out her help for once. She will literally be honored to help you. Do this too often though, and it will become dreary and burdensome. You will give yourself away too much, and she won't have room to carry you and her at once, and it will turn her away.

So, this is what I have found, for any of you that may be confused as to how you are supposed to carry out a successful LTR with the RP mindset, when being alpha demands a lot, and can seem somewhat cold at times. Don't be afraid to give some of yourself away. Not giving yourself away to your partner is still to live in fear of them.

Give yourself away, but don't give too much, and don't give yourself away too quickly. Show her though, that when you allow yourself a vulnerable position that it is something incredibly significant, and should not be taken lightly as it is for so many other people today. Giving some of yourself away, as a high value male, for her to hold should be seen as a gift. If you give her a ring, you need to make sure that the ring means nothing, and that you getting down on your knee in front of her means everything.
