A buddy of mine was headed to his uncle's funeral today. They were pretty tight as he was growing up and later as he was a grown man. His wife was accompanying him and not only did she make him late by sitting around and watching TV until it was almost time to leave before even getting dressed, but she started bitching at him in the car as soon as they got on the road, complaining about his driving, the noise the radio was making, etc. My friend just wanted to go to his uncle's funeral - he didn't want it to be about his wife.

So, he asked me for advice about the situation. I've got nothing, as I realize that this isn't a spot where things work particularly well for me either. What's a good red pill way to let her know that the day of a family member's funeral is not about her, but about the family and the deceased? I'm loathe to suggest that he should have just driven her back to the house and told her to get out and then gone on without her. What's a good way to set a boundary in a situation like that where you are already in a good amount of inner pain and she's trying to hijack and shit test the entire thing? What would you tell him? This is an area I realize that I suck as well, so I thought I'd throw it up here for discussion, as I've had similar problems in the past. Thoughts?
