They crave the abuse and the misery because they know that the man cares about them if they are freaking out on them.

reminds me of a story that opened my eyes a while back. was some year maybe sophomore or junior. This guy had been dating a girl for a while not sure how long, but the type that had been together most of high school, she looked really sweet I never really talked to her

he was in my class the next year, random convos at lunch come up. I overhear something about them being broken up.

Then he says "she went back to her drug dealer ex" and more things about how he doesn't understand it.

Boy, you've got a lot to learn. You don't talk with women about that. Ever. It is ALWAYS going to be some made up bullshit coated answer to justify themselves. They express it through their actions, which you found out to be bullshit, so I'm glad.

Just wish her good luck, move on and find someone else that isn't broken. You should be glad she had at least decency to break up with you and not cheat on you with that worthless trashbag on the side. Make sure that when she eventually splits with that idiot because he has no drive you don't provide her with attention. Mark my words, she will eventually cry and come back to you saying how she was wrong and to take her in until the cycle repeats itself.

Even before TRP I had the sense to not date a girl who used to date a drug addict. When I was 16 I found out my oneitis had previously hooked up with a guy I deemed to be scum. I just completely stopped talking to her after that, the false image of her being an angel was shattered.
