I came up with an alternative explanation for the main concepts discussed here.
I just got done watching a TV show recently called Westworld (season 2). Spoilers ahead, although nothing major. In the final episode, they say that humans weren't nearly as complicated as they expected them to be. They successfully created simulations of complex humans, but these failed in the real world (such as the hundreds of iterations of James Delos) because they didn't actually simulate humans accurately. Humans are simple, and a full description of our personalities fit into a small amount of memory.
This concept may apply to the community that has formed around The Red Pill, a community of realists trying to put aside morals while understanding human behavior. We're all stuck on the concept of alpha and beta and such. We think there is a hierarchy, and somehow from this, women pick us. Therefore, the goal is to be high on the hierarchy. I'm not going to radically change this view; I just want to state it in different terms because men and women use different language, and we are misunderstanding women because we use male language to describe female thoughts/feelings.
- Women want attention, and men want loyalty. Not coincidentally, men think of love as loyalty, and women think of love as attention.
- Once read a great post on here that said all men essentially look for something equal to their mom in a partner, and they'll never quite find it. Yes, moms are loyal to you, and this is what men ultimately want. Also, what are women with a daddy complex? They are girls that crave attention and do lots of extra things to get it. No, I don't think it's quite a symmetric situation. Women don't look for copies of their fathers, and they're never unsatisfied existentially the way that men are who realize the loyalty doesn't exist because there is always more attention for women around the corner. They will always believe in love (their definition of love).
- Women may or may not want your attention. Their decision process is extremely simple and primitive, so among the most common methods is to simply trust what other women think about it. It's groupthink. So if you appear to or do have a lot of women wanting your attention, they want it too. There's also the difficulty in obtaining it. The attention that is obtainable but is the hardest for them to obtain is the most desirable to them.
- It is not about your idea of masculinity. Masculinity only happens to roughly coincide with the abilities for a guy to meet her needs. But say she feels physically safe 100% of the time... She might start going for Bieber dudes because that's what meets the rest of her needs. Say she's confident that the welfare state plus family courts will side with her; now she's not worried if you might take any of your attention to her needs away if she decides to leave. As such, she pursues gold digging as well as guys who meet her other needs more perfectly despite potentially not having a lot of money. She wants each of her needs individually met to the greatest levels possible. It does not matter how. Loyalty is not what women think; it's what men think.
- That's it. If you go to a club or bar, and you see women doing things... It doesn't mean they especially like you or are especially horny even. They want attention; that is their primal game. A girl that leaves a club without a guy but with loads of attention will probably feel great about herself and not necessarily feel bad about not getting laid that night.
- There are obviously other things, but they're all common sense because guys do equivalent things. Look good, smell good, move your body well, etc. This is why everyone talks about lifting here, as it's the most efficient way to build a better body.
- Then, there's also elements of whether the other person is intelligent and has similar values, but this is just scanning for whether a long-term relationship could be doable and if they would fit into their tribe (still in their primal mind here). I think humanity's history with monogamy is complex, so I won't go further here except to say that I think we can safely put these things in a different category and ignore them for the purposes of this discussion.
- Meanwhile, a guy will be feeling low, especially if he had some close calls, because he was seeking loyalty (the giving of a woman's most prized possession and the next 9 months of her life, if successful) and failed.
- What is attention? It's attention to their needs. It could be sexual, it could be monetary, it could be physical protection. It's essentially a guy willing to attend to those needs, which is similar but not quite the same thing as saying he's loyal. A guy can be loyal but unable to meet those needs, and a guy can be unloyal but still able to meet those needs. On the other hand, if a guy wants loyalty, he's not so much worried about attention because a) he's already giving that in this bargain and b) he can take whatever he wants, so he just needs her loyalty to know that he can always take it whenever he wants it.
- The biggest mistake men make is thinking women want loyalty. If you were to fall back on the trope of the slow developing monogamous relationship like in the good old days, it wasn't the guy showing loyalty with his chivalry. It was showing he was capable of providing the attention to her needs.
- Another example... Why do women see jealousy as healthy in a relationship? It means you are giving her attention (or vice versa, as she probably thinks you want attention too... We're both short-sighted in this regard). Men see jealousy as unhealthy, as it means a lack of confidence in the loyalty. To expand, women think it is healthy in a relationship to do something that will make her spouse show her attention. When her spouse gets jealous because she flirted with a dude, that's a positive sign to her, in her primal brain. I don't think women would fairly apply this to the situation where a guy does something that makes her jealous. They would not say that is a healthy relationship. However, they would want to stay with that guy potentially because it may mean his attention is worth even more (if it was other women vying for his attention, for instance, that created the jealousy).
- How is this information useful to you? You now know what girls want. If you are in a position where they come to you for attention, you hold the power, the control. If you are in a position where you offer attention to them in hopes of something in return, they are hold the power. Choose the situation you want to be in.
Summary
Women will vy for your attention if they think it is valuable in potentially meeting their needs, and other than obvious physical and logical evidence for this, their decision process is based on how hard it is to get attention from you and whether other girls want your attention to. You obviously want to be in a situation where many women want your attention. But even as seen with utter dweebs that become pop stars, it doesn't matter how this happens so long as it happens. The discussion of alpha and social hierarchy is essentially bunk for sexual attraction, as far as I'm concerned. There are tons of parallels, but you'll consistently make mistakes if you start from the position of thinking you have to be alpha. That's not how the mechanism works.
