Summary

I have had the best semester of my schooling career, even though it’s my last. I spent three and a half years at university smoking weed and playing video games almost every day, most of the times for the whole day. I would start things and not finish them. I would have this notion that it was simply because I was unmotivated and I would be better down the line.

I’ve been clean from instant gratification for three months. I go to the gym 6 days a week and I’m getting bigger and stronger and the people around me are starting to notice. I’m assertive and speak my mind and I almost always maintain frame. I sleep properly and have full productive days where I accomplish things and it feels good. Most importantly, I’m developing relationships with people I care about, people I want to protect, and people who share my same outlook on life.

Right now, I am consistently happy. Sure the bad times are there, SO WHAT? You are a man. You deal with it. Right fucking now. Happiness is a choice, and it’s about making the best out of the situation. When things are going good, when things are going bad, you apply the same effort in developing yourself physically, mentally and creatively.

Body

As a society, we consume too much. Hungry? Just walk down the street to the fast food place. Bored? Go on your phone or watch TV or play video games. Horny? Open up that porno.

PRODUCE. Produce value for the world, you will feel good, and you will be rewarded. It won’t come fast, it won’t come easily, but it will come. Baby steps are always okay; they just have to be in the right direction.

AUTHENTICITY

Before you can lead other people, you have to have supreme command and leadership over your own thoughts and actions. Be the best version of yourself, and have fun doing it.

Stop asking for permission and learn that asking for forgiveness is often much easier.

Share your thoughts with people, don’t be afraid to tell people they are wrong. DO NOT LIE. They will be shocked at first but they will come to respect you for it in the long run.

Take criticism well, if someone criticizes you for doing something wrong or for something that you CAN CHANGE, it’s because they care. If people don’t give a shit about you, they will tell you everything is okay when things aren’t.

CONSISTENCY

Life sucks. Life sucks long, life sucks hard. You pick yourself up and keep pushing at the boundaries. When you break past plateaus, you don’t stop, you keep pushing and keep pushing every single damn day.

Put yourself in uncomfortable situations, because things never get easier, your mastery just gets better. Working out is not about looking better for girls, it’s about learning that nothing that’s meaningful and lasts a long time is built in a short amount of time. NO EXCUSES. NO APOLOGIES. Even if you need to go to the gym and do half an hour/12 sets, you do it, because consistency is key. If you’re gravely ill, take a rest day, but keep in mind that’s a special day and working out is the norm.

Be consistent in the way you talk to people, treat everyone the same, that hot chick next door or that fat gamer nerd in your classes. TRUST PEOPLE FIRST, if they break that trust, move onto the next immediately.

TRANSPARENCY

I have a friend who went through terrible addiction to MMO games. We talk every Sunday, and we share our week’s accomplishments with one another. We have a list of goals that we go over every single week, to make sure we are on track or getting on track. (No weed, No games, Fitness, Accountabilities) There’s nothing you can do in this world alone, when LeBron James lost the championship, he hired people to yell at him; one of the best basketball players in the world needs people to keep him accountable.

At the beginning of this journey with my friend, we said, if we ever lie or sugar coat the failures or successes of that week, we would go our separate ways. It’s not about our friendship, It’s about the principle. I recommend everyone find another friend to do this with, find someone to be accountable for you.

Express yourself. Certain things you don’t have to care about (IDGAF), but when it matters to you CARE. CARE with every ounce of effort that you have.

Conclusion

Live life to the fullest. For many of us, we are in the best times of our lives, physically, mentally and emotionally. TAKE ADVANTAGE of that, don’t wait, don’t make excuses, don’t apologize, TAKE ACTION right now and realize that you will fail, but that’s a part of the process.

Don't sweat the small things, and EVERYTHING is a small thing besides your health and your family.

The only thing guaranteed in life are setbacks. Take risks. If you make a mistake or fail, take a moment to analyze the situation, remember the lesson, then never think about that failure again.

Always visualize success, and prepare for failure. ALWAYS BE CLOSING. Finish what you start, pour your heart and soul into every endeavor.

Thanks for reading, I’m so fortunate to have discovered this sub, I’ve been a lurker for many years but I never internalized its lessons until a few months ago, and I feel compelled to share a little bit about my journey now that I’ve gotten past the anger phase and into the building phase. I have a long way to go, and part of that journey is writing these thoughts down and helping others. If I’ve helped one person, I consider this post a success.
