So, if i get you right, i find a nice peacefull place, sit down, close my eyes and start counting my breath? How do i know i'm really meditating, i kind of feel like im missing something, but i really want to try it out, so could you please tell me if i have the right idea about how it works?

/r/meditation is a good resource

But the OP should provide some context and discuss how this relates to TRP, not just post a link to a beginner's meditation guide.... for which anyone interested could easily google.

I feel like silly links like this dilute the content of /r/TheRedPill

Meditation is a method of self improvement for many. Mental rather than physical. How would one maintain an air of amused mastery if they are stressed out? With great difficulty, I imagine.

I have tried meditation before, it is very relaxing. I appreciate OP throwing something a little different into the mix. At least it's not yet another article showing that women don't have a fucking clue.

I get the concept of meditation and I encourage people to try it. Personally I'd rather use my time to acquire a new skill and better myself in a practical way which will give me new experiences and perspectives, which will ultimately fulfill me more as a man.

You might be surprised how it can really help you see the world as it is, not as society says it should be. I find it practical as a man in a TRP context. It's not an experience like an activity, but more training to change your thinking patterns. Useful in its own right, and worth the minor time investment.

IMO though, you're confusing feeling peaceful, or get into an alternative state of mind, with some things I've found useful exclusively from meditation.

The meditation I've practice specifically is designed to make me aware. Aware of my true motivations for doing things, aware of why others act the way they do, aware of the present moment (this is probably what you're referring to, right?), and aware of society.

Being present and "in the zone" I've experienced from playing an instrument as well, and also from working with computers and coding. But it is only a small piece of what meditation aims to do. Meditation can be used to specifically break down the logical points of a situation.

In a TRP context, I find this extremely helpful. I have trained myself less attached to my emotions. That itself is extremely useful and practical.

The Dalai Lama was asked how to deal with someone you are afraid of losing or obsessed with (oneitus?), and he responded that you should think about all their flaws. Logical thoughts like that help punch through the B.S. that females have thrown at me and logical points like that has come from his extensive meditation practices.

In fact, letting my mind wander during a meditation session is nice and peaceful but actually goes against my goals. I have to make an effort to let go of the wandering thoughts and snap back to the present moment.

I'm not disagreeing with you choosing one activity over another, or the fact that meditation may not have been as helpful to you as music. Just clarifying from my understanding and experience.

By doing an activity, you are by default not in a meditative state. I get where you're coming from, but I suggest trying it for a bit to notice the difference. Meditation ,focus, and relaxation are all very different from one another

sounds like someone who has never actually meditated
