I was subscribed to the sub a long time ago and left, and now came back to see how things are. They are still the same. In the spirit of dialogue and trying to make things better constructively, here are a few thoughts for anyone who cares to read.
First let me start with a few strengths:
- TRP Philosophy gives men a connection to their deep evolutionary and biological roots. Modern societies and cultures provide too much comfort, and it is harming manhood in very bad ways. We have been around as a species for 100-200k years (depending on whom you ask) and these societal changes have really only taken place in the last 150 years. Our brains and genetics have not caught up with modernity and maybe never will.
- TRP is one of the few groups who firmly push back against Post-modernism and relativism. These paradigms are very bad and they are being used for nefarious purposes by very clever people. All but a few lose when we abandon reason and stop striving for objectivity.
- TRP approach to life is grounded in positivity – go to the gym, improve yourself, be strong, avoid undue influence from others, etc… These are all great pieces of advice no matter what.
Challenges
- This sub and the red pill philosophy are heavily influenced by anger. This is perfectly understandable, but like any ism based on anger (Feminism is a perfect example) it can easily be hijacked and injected with hatred. I do not see that here yet, but more than a few posts have caused me concern. We all know this and it is something to watch out for.
- There are too many posts that are either cheesy motivational-poster types of platitudes, or long rambling diatribes (I am guilty of both, btw). This makes effective communication challenging.
- Branding. Feminism has branded itself and become a global powerhouse. Men have no such brand. We are fragmented and overly competitive and getting our asses kicked.
Without some unifying force or leader, these subs will remain isolated and demonized by more powerful forces. We can start by focusing on the strengths (there are many more than this) and trying to mitigate the challenges. This is already being done, so this is just a reminder to keep doing the good work you are all doing.
Everywhere we go, we should repeat over and over again in as many places possible (usually hostile subs) some version of this statement: “An unfair attack on one man is an unfair attack on all men. We are your brothers, sons, fathers, lovers, providers, and protectors. We are here for you as we always have been. Treat that with the respect it deserves or you will lose it.”
