INTRO

Hi. I’m Infinatus. If you enjoy my works (to be) then please to follow me on twitter @infinatuss. I have this issue of not talking nearly as much as I could, but I figured writing would get me around to reaching out to people.

The handle derives from Ad Infinitum or infinity, meaning something that remains the same or infinity. My first properly written subject will be on the subject of change, ironic as that may be.

BODY

I’m going to break down this topic in three phrases. The first is 'your' reality, the second is 'your' grasp and the third is 'your' future. As it initially looks like, those three are a metaphor of past, present and future. However, that’s not completely right: They are present, near future and far future. Whether your goals are to be the king of media or to retire into yourself (Letters from a Stoic - Seneca pg.43) - you will need to change and become greater than you are. Nobody is exempt from this. Not you, not Trump.

I’m far less concerned with the reasons as to why you came to be where you are now, than I am in knowing that you are now on the route to change. The main kind of person I see on TRP are the reality deniers – the ones who explain their dead bedroom antics in an excruciating detail like the plot-line to a sitcom: context, setup and punchline. Perhaps they haven’t read the sidebar or maybe they have to some extent. These are the people who want change but don’t want to do anything about it. This is the “I’ll start that diet on Monday.” Or “I still love her even though I was cheated on.” They are aware of their nature, but are not willing to supersede their own potential future. When you take away the delusion and dopamine it is uncomfortable and disarming to the psyche. Initially, this new information attacks the social schema we assimilated into our everyday lifestyles. We do not like this. This is what is called ‘unplugging’ and from this point, most will simply plug back in at their half-assed attempt to fondle the socket. Each man has his limit, his capacity for growth: but he should not lie to himself about it. (The Way of the Superior Man - David Deida)

Then there are those on their starting steps.

I find that being Masculine and the effort of being masculine is brokered into two parts: physical and mental. I use the word brokered because it's not just a simple growth, it's one that takes a dualistic engagement and disintegration of one's prior beliefs and habits into new ones (whether meshed, or reinvented.) One cannot grow without the other, and one is not more important than the other. All aspects of masculinity need this. My integral philosophy is that neither can be improved without realistic training of them. Physically, in martial arts, you aren't really training an actual scenario until you actually spar or fight. There is a core separation between fighting on a soft mat with partners who aren't willing to really hurt you in comparison to 'your' life being on the line. I hate modern Judo in this sense. In a street fight, there is nobody to guide you. There is no ref to moderate the fight, and you certainly can't turtle up and think that the aggressor will stop. Mentally, the same can be said. Without experiencing the nervousness and bad charisma, they cannot be truly developed from the comfort of one's home. PUA thrives on the weak through misrepresentation of difficulty. You can say a lot of words and still not actually say anything. When you begin to learn of the physical and mental things you are able to accomplish, the horizon broadens.

When one finally begins to emerge from that, you can begin to reclaim your own time as your own rather than it being on loan to other people, and stop being others' doormats (No More Mr Nice Guy - Robert Glover.) There needs to be some essence of spirituality as you must retire into yourself and actualize your own desires. What is it that motivates you, whether greed or envy - woodworking or dancing. This is up to you. What you must do to achieve that is utilize the four stages of competence, it is that understanding and as I see it, this paradigm explains TRP. You are living about your life, then you are aware of the incompetency that you are wishing to change. You begin to change, things change and your situations change. You aren't very good at it, but after time - you're there. Then, it will become natural to you.

You are you, and that is your power.

'Is any man afraid of change? Why, what can take place without change?' (Meditations - Marcus Aurelius, book VI)

Conclusion

All of this is just a parable of the stages of RP. Know for what it is you strive and you shall be rewarded. The cruel, sweet nectar we know about the world: Don’t drink the water.
