It's the end of 2016, which means the New Year's resolutions will be in the works. In this time of resolution making, I recommend you make your resolutions responsible with someone else.

What I mean by this is the following: commit to doing your resolution along with someone else. For example, instead of making a resolution that you will go to the gym twice a week alone, plan to go to the gym twice a week with a friend. That way you are responsible to an external factor if one day you don't feel like going.

This can also take the form of committing money. For example, say your resolution is again going to the gym twice a week. You can promise a friend or a foe $100 if you miss out on this resolution. This binding of money motivates you to hit the gym, rather than skipping out.

Whatever your resolutions are, make yourself responsible to an external factor. When we are responsible to others, we tend to be more committed, more willing, and more motivated to follow through.
