The main point of that post you are trying to reference was if the woman was the one who lost her job and was depressed it wouldn't even be a question of 'should I leave her and take care of myself instead'. If the woman was unemployed and depressed everyone everywhere would pressure the husband to support her no matter what no matter how long financially and emotionally. Look at that last sentence OP. This is where your mental disconnect is happening.
Imagine now back to that original post. Guy is unemployed and depressed. The whole archived post was about the woman and how she felt and what she should do to help herself. Not a thing about the guy and how he needs to be emotionally and financially supported until he can get back on his feet. Can you see the double standard yet?
Ok one more time, if the woman had the problems the guy married to her is expected by all to take care of her no matter what. Since the guy is the one having the problem the woman is being encouraged to divorce, leave the guy, he's a drain etc. so forth. By now if you cannot see the double standard that was applied then take the snark in your post with you as you read the sidebar.

I can see the double standard. I even acknowledge it in my post. There's a double standard. There are 2 standards. There is a standard for men and a standard for women. These standards are not the same, because men and women are not the same.
If a woman was feeling depressed and weak, then we would expect the man to look after her and be strong, because this is his role. He is capable of that. She is not capable of doing the same when the situation is reversed. That is how it is. Do not be confused and think that deep down, if you lift away all abstractions, that really really, truly truly, men and women are equal. It is not the case. It has never been the case. It will never be the case. Remove this misconception from your mind.
If you pretend that we live in a fictional universe in which the woman was not a woman and was in fact a man, then the criticisms are valid. We do not live in that universe.
A woman will never be strong like a man. It is not how the world is. Do not worry. It's not bad, and this fact won't hurt you unless you let it, which it can only do if you forget it.
You are a drainage enabler. You highlight the double standard and say "look, a double standard!" as though it is a point worth addressing, exactly in the way I mocked in the OP.
That man is a drain. He is worthless trash. Discard your belief that everybody is worth something because it is wrong and it will hurt you.

Are you saying then that women have absolutely no need to be supportive and, dare I say, helpful to their partners?
I can see it, but at the same time I cant help but think of this woman when she has children, and her 6 year old son comes to her sad because of some problem, and she reacts to him just like she did to her husband. In that sense, I consider an in-compassionate woman to not simply be a bad person, but a woman who is fundamentally flawed as well.
Or maybe this is why men from single mother homes have so many issues.

A woman who feels genuine compassion ? Laughable.
You know that women don't see their husbands and their children in a way that is comparable in any way? Her dispassion for caring for her husband is no indicator at all of how much she cares for her children.
If a woman's child has a problem you can bet that she will be the first to care about it. With fierce passion. Women care about their children, they are programmed to.
Women are not programmed to care about anything else in fact. Her love for a man is in fact love for the fact that he is attractive (She doesn't love you, she loves her attraction to you), aka, he has good genes for the kids she's gonna have from him when she lets him pound her into the headstand. It is frankly a complete waste of her time and effort to care about men who do not evoke attraction in her. Hence Briffault's law.
edit: to answer your question: She has no need to do anything. She can go eat pizza and get fat if she wants. She will do whatever you let her get away with. If a man let's his girl be unhelpful, then guess what? She will be.

i completely agree with what you're saying. only thing i wanted to point out was in reference to
any pain that you perceive them to have caused you was in fact caused by your incredibly flawed assumptions.
extremely large parts of TRP, as you point out, are self reliance, self improvement, and learning from our mistakes. when you assume someone is capable of more (whether that's accomplishment, or just not being a shitty human being), and you're wrong, you need to learn from it. failure to study and learn from those mistakes will inevitably lead to their repetition.

I disagree on the awalt not meaning all women are evil part. All women are evil, chaotic, emotional, inherently negative creatures. They'll destroy the world if you let them.
& I don't believe women feel compassion to any man but their sons ejther , if even.
You need a healthy dose of OmLaLa and Archwinger.
