Foreword:
History shows no organization that has ever been MANAGED out of a crisis. Ever. Every.single.event, all of them were solved by great leadership. Strong leader led us out of a crisis.
Ironically, perhaps through immoral political alliance against mankind, many of our modern institutions are dedicated to spending precious resource (Human, Time, Technology) to NOT invest to develop great leaders but on training effective managers.
They train and reward according to the social caste system. Have or have not. Divide and conquer……..
Short-term gains are viewed as the hallmark of triumph and success. Long-term organizational growth and viability are simply the bill payers.
Before I continued, I must include a list of few mandatory reading. They are essential to better grasp the core of leadership, and ultimately, echo back to The Laws.
Some of them are the tool for a social module (Never split the difference by Chris Voss) Some of them are the core building process (The power of HABIT by Charles Duhigg) If you are in this sub, you are reading in English. I can’t stress how important it is in the art of reading. READING itself, with enough time and enough nonfiction tool book you have done the reading, it can change your life. It is the foundation of the empire.
FRAMEWORK of leader:
-Bill Swanson's 33 unwritten rules.
-Move your bus, Ron Clark
The 4 leadership core boil down from Bill Swanson, the former Raytheon CEO.
-Confidence
-Dedication
-Integrity
-Passion
-Confidence:
You know your work, your masterpiece, your tradecraft. What type of questions leader often asked subordinate? Smallest, tiniest, perhaps seldom irrelevant detail that no one will pay attention. Why? If you are worthy of your salt, you probably already know every corner of your work. If not, perform extreme ownership and own it. EVERY detail you need to know.
This process build confidence, the matters you are confident often the matters that you know very well. Will you confident in something you never know? That is bluff, and people can know especially people know by EXPERIENCE of measure know you were a bad liar if you don’t use to lie, and you don’t know how to craft a perfect buy-in lie. Basically, don’t get caught with your pants down. If you want to do it, don’t get caught. But when you get caught, surrender and learn from your mistake. NEVER apologize. Brush it off and move on. Do real work is much easier to fake it. Put your own confidence into your work because fear spread like cancer and it will affect the organization very quickly.
-Dedication:
You must dedicate yourself to lead your man, you will not do what you want, instead, you plan accordingly and you will do what you must to enable them to succeed. If you can’t, someone will take your position as leader sooner or later, inaction also count as the WORST because you have no baseline to begin. You position your priority based on your tasking and obligation, you are dedicated to the targeted outcome. Whatever it may be, you need to put dedication into it and measure your effort, one-hundred-percent and then some.
-Integrity:
Be honest, or APPEAR to be honest. There is a social cue that makes you appear to be honest, people make snap judgments as soon as they meet you. You need to help yourself to build trust, keep a pleasant, positive expression. Suddenly switching from a downbeat expression to a giant smile is likely to undermine trust. Manage your facial expression, body language, shoulder erect, with pleasant distance based on social norms.GAIN trust without saying a word: Avoid hunching over, and never stare at your phone or watch. Keep elbow at your side when shaking hands, DRAW/PULL another person closer than arm’s length and DON’T distance yourself by lean in with a big firm handshake. Lean in when listen and look people in the eye, smile occasionally when people speak rather than nonstop grinning. Remain mindful and use your knowledge in the book to ID, Target, analyze the speech of others to find out their intention and weakness of hidden agenda. You need to manage your image and reputation. Put integrity as a relic of worship but claim the accomplishment by using others to complete the task, you manage people to work to achieve your goal, and you boasting your honesty and integrity as good virtue while attacking or be a social sniper to undermine others reputation for being not as good. Learn how to be politically savvy because honesty is a poison coat with political correctness. Honest with bad execution is too risky. Select honestly is best, for you to outmaneuver others and further your agenda. EXPAND your gray area, and claim to represent INTEGRITY by point out people’s mistake and set virtue bar higher (Political tax) that force other to toe with your law.
-Passion:
A leader is the type of animal that wakes up chewing glass and nail, drink acid and poison, listen bad news, emergency, lies, bullshit, false alarm, complain, trivial problems, nag, and bitching. Truly, you must have the passion to lead others, or this path will foster depression so fast your head start spinning. You need to love and EMOTIONALLY manage your team, ID their problem and make them work for you and work together. You hand pick and build your team. Find meaningful work that has payout and fixable problems. You can’t polish a sneaker. Learn where and when to commit your focus and never commit your alliance because you are not cheap. Learn how to deal with problems quickly and effectively because you will deal with it ALL THE TIME, everything will be a problem, but at what cost to fix it. Learn problem matrix and prioritize for your team to do, you monitor them and claim the final outcome then you reward your team with praise and advocate for them for their hard work and passion. Love will bring you to your career new height if you use it to draw enough attention and use it effectively.
