Yeah this is just feminists trying to take over geek culture and all it's subcultures because they feel they have to control every space where any number of males gather.

All that will happen is that they will strange the space, and men (and non feminist women) will wander off and create a new space.

Then the feminists will invade that too. Circle of life n all that.

For those of you unaware what Steampunk is, it's a subculture which glorifies and seeks to emulate Victorian era and uses steam machine themed accessories to do so. It's a neat little niche subculture made by MEN which is, like every other thing, being invaded by feminists. I'll give you short excerpts from the article :

Often when people are accused of violating another’s boundaries they react out of anger. This is not helpful to either you, the event or the person whose consent you violated. We will not tolerate victim blaming, shaming, witch hunts, or retaliation. Each of these can, in and of itself, result in you being banned from our events.

We are not going to identify your accuser or accusers to you. DO NOT ASK. We understand that this seems unfair and is frustrating from your perspective. However, anonymity is a cornerstone of safety for all involved .

Now let me give you a rundown of what can very easily happen :

Given the rarity of false complaints
We don't think there are very many false complaints
We believe all accusations
Since we believe them we don't investigate them
Therefore we actually have no idea how many are false
But we FEEL that not many are

This is justification. Now for the witch hunt :

First accept that you’ve been accused of violating someone else’s boundaries, no matter how severely.

This means that in order to stay on the con, you must ADMIT you harassed someone.

Should we find that you more likely than not intentionally violated another’s consent, taken actions that run counter to the goals of consent culture, egregiously or repeatedly harassed people we will without hesitation revoke your admission to the event without refund. We reserve the right to refuse you future admissions for any length of time to any of our events.

This means that if you harassed someone, you WILL get kicked out without refunding.

The thought process is * We accuse you * If you are accused, you may not defend yourself * If you do, you're guilty because otherwise you wouldn't defend yourself, and your defense is actually victim shaming * If you don't, you're guilty by default

Does this remind you of any particular religious persecution? I've found that these things are getting more and more extreme in hobbies associated with nerds/betas - anime, steampunk, video games,etc. But not in hobbies associated with alphas - car culture, gym culture, etc. Frankly, this scares me because this is a sign of ambition.

They define harassment as "being a jerk."

Merriam-Webster defines jerk as "a stupid person or a person who is not well-liked or who treats other people badly."

So if you are stupid or not well-liked by others then you are harassing feminists.

-- That's a horrible way to go about investigations. I know perfectly well some people get touchy feely with people without proper consent; I'm not even going to deny that. But, that's not the way to approach the problem. These rules make it highly unlikely I'd ever attend this event, because I have little to no protection from being within that small percent of false claims.

This has less to do with feminists taking over Steampunk and more to do with Jeff Mach being a feminist IMO. I dated a girl he, "trained," once. He either is or used to be a figure in the BDSM community, and I'm 99% sure the girl was underage when he trained her, as she was 18 or 19 when I met her. He also wrote a book for training female slaves called Give. Last time I looked for it it had been taken down, but you might be able to find it if you want.

It's very common for well known male Dom's to claim to be feminist as it makes very good sense politically. It's either that or go with a Gorean type frame where women are naturally inferior. If you look at the wording and you're at all familiar with BDSM you'll see it's basically taken directly from the SSC guides.

Lemme tell you, if you have an ounce of self-respect you will tell everyone you know not to go until the feminist dildo a foot up this events ass, is taken out. Period. If you go, pay these people and do nothing you are giving approval to this kind of nonsense.

But you'll probably go anyway and then complain under your unwashed breath the whole time about your "mens rights" and tip your fedoras at each other. And that's why they'll keep getting away with shit like this at your events.

For this policy “People” refers to attendees, staff, volunteers, guests, performers, vendors, and hotel staff and management at the event.

So in other words... people.
