I wanted to tell a short story about how my alpha friend became a beta at the same time as I went from a beta to an alpha.
John and I were college roommates earlier during school, and still pretty good friends. His "number" was somewhere between 30 and 40 leading up to his current relationship. He would play up his French accent while speaking to girls, and maintain his frame at all costs, usually going in for the kill at the end of the night. John lifted a lot, had a great body, and did a great job of getting girls into bed. He was definitely the AMOG, and most of the guys looked up to him, myself included.
In comes his first LTR, Beth. Things were good between the two of them, until they weren't. He put on a lot of weight, and when she complained that she had no friends John encouraged her to go and meet some people. She did, and fell for one of them, cheated on John, and the rest was history.
Back to alpha mode...for a bit. John dropped 20 pounds, got his six pack back, and went back to bat. After spinning a few plates (mainly freshmen, we're seniors), he decided that it was time to settle down again (wtf) and played his usual games before landing his second LTR, Jen. Jen wears the pants in the relationship, though she would admit to John early on that she thought he was "way too cool" for her and shocked when he actually asked her to be his girlfriend.
John put those 20 pounds back on (actually probably closer to 30) and fell into a vicious cycle in which he's at the absolute mercy of Jen. So much that he will let her go off on his friends (including me) when he blames them for stupid things he's done. For example, at a buddy's bachelor party in Vegas, a stripper came over to John to give him a lap dance. He was hesitant but eventually got talked into it (mainly by the stripper, but I pushed him as well). At the end of the night, he broke down and told Jen and blamed the entire thing on me. In his world, it was my fault for "tempting him." John has no balls. Jen berated me, calling me a "bad friend" (to John, not to her; she and I don't really talk) and John called me to echo the sentiment.
John hates school, can't find a job, and is at the point where the only "good thing" he has is his girlfriend (in his mind, it's a good thing). Not to mention Jen almost dumped him after the Vegas incident but didn't because he got down on his hands and knees and begged.
And that, men, is how an alpha becomes a beta.
By the way this is an account I use specifically for this account because my main account is linked to my identity. I'm not new to reddit or TRP.
