Yet what's odd is that they seem to be sexually aroused by violence.
Not really. Down in their soupy, primordial brains, women are looking for the most "fit" mate, and a guy who has the capacity for violence is > the guy who is a harmless hipster pussy faggot. Why? Because our brains are hardwired for how the world was 10,000 years ago (or whatever) and if some neighboring tribe wanted to take over your ice field, then the guys who lived were going to be the guys who could fight back.
Now, girls don't think about WHY that's the case, but it is. Ex. I was in bed (coincidentally with a stripper - it was the 90s and I was going through a 'stripper' phase) and she asked me, out of nowhere, if I could kill someone, if I had to. So I said "Of course" in a tone that implied, "What a stupid question." She tingled so much that she actually shivered.
This is also why "nice guys" lose. Fortune favors The Bold not the emotional tampon who cannot give voice to what he wants.

Absolutely, capacity for violence = reproductive fitness and protection, although it goes beyond that. In addition, the ability to act out violence is:
A marked way of imposing your will on reality, and
A archetypal behavior associated with physical domiance over other men & masculine identity. (Violence is almost always present in the hero myth).
Also, your stripper story illustrates the masculine polarity associated with violence, as well as a masterful handling of that particular situation.

Why would you go for the bartender? Is there something I'm missing?

a two week period before going back
I'm sure some guys would think wtf about this statement. This is the mother of more of my kids than you can count on one hand. It's been an extremely long LTR, obviously.
