Alcohol takes away the brakes in your mind. All of the sudden you are hugging and kissing with the most awkward kino ever, but because you are not aware how much you really are outside of your comfort zone you come over as confident.

Learn to get out of your comfort zone naturally before you become addicted to alcohol. I've seen it ruin some men and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

Alcohol reduces the number of thoughts in your brain.

With increasing alcohol you get a kind of "tunnel vision" where you fixate on an idea and your emotions tend to become amplified. (usually positively, but some people can become mean drunks)

The optimal Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) is about 0.05 to be "smooth" but not "stupid".

One thing you might do is buy a breathalyzer on eBay for $6. You can then test yourself to teach yourself what the different numbers feel like. (I've done this, it's a great idea)

If you are blowing above 0.10 you will start slurring your speech and no longer be able to function well. That's usually about four to six beers in an hour or less.

Your body loses 0.01 - 0.02 per hour, so once you get to about two to four beers you want to slow down.

I went out last night and drank 7 (pint sized) beers over 6 hours and had lot's of fun. (I walk to the bar)

Being extroverted in a bar with a couple beers and good looking women is heaven in my opinion. And guys can be fun as friends too.

It's better than Porn and Videogames in your parents basement.

(I'm 53 so I'm making fun of the beta boys)

If a few beers make you "smooth" then enjoy it responsibly... do your best James Bond.

Agreed here. All my successful pickups were when I was nearly drunk.

It also embedded within me a positive feedback loop within me that has made drinking problematic at times.

So rather than drinking more, or relegating myself to a perpetually sober beta fate, I work on reducing my everyday anxiety. Essentially, I've learned to emulate that drunken confidence in everyday life.

It's scary... until it just stops being scary.

This is interesting. I can only speculate, so here goes.

Alchohol lowers inhibitions.

Perhaps inhibitions are anti-Alpha? Perhaps with fewer inhibitions, you worry less about "I should be a good boy" and just do what the fuck you want? Which by the way, would be alpha. For (temporary) real, not fake.

So I dunno, but seems like any chance you have to remember what you were thinking/feeling with a buzz (I know, pickled amygdala=>poor recall) is an opportunity for growth, a chance to see what is holding you back?
