Even if he said "infinite" that doesn't make sense. Most liberals that I have come across favor some form of environmental conservatism and are to some extent against wasteful culture because they feel that the Earth's resources are not unlimited. His analysis is fatally flawed.

That's on the conscious level. The author seems to be saying that unconsciously the infinite resource or "rabbit" mentality of r-selection gears liberals toward certain social and political ideologies that call for dramatic expenditure of resources. Resource shortages cause a dissonance panic, which manifests rationally in ideologies such as environmental conservatism.
