I think something that's related to basic RP strategy is an instinctive grasp of game theory. In application, I think it is important to acquire this intuitive game theory ability through developing skills and/or playing extremely complex(preferably social) games. These are skills like martial arts, music, or fitness. Games would be chess or starcraft or any complex RPG. Something that will allow you to gain an understanding of basic work/reward relationships. This translates directly into real world decision making and social strategy.
I think it is extremely useful(though incompatible with feels) to view life as a series of statistical choices. This viewpoint requires a lot of introspection and wisdom to still be happy while accepting that the underlying structure of the universe is statistic randomness. This viewpoint is also supported by the underlying logic of game theory. Even if you reject that philosophy, it is still important to acquire game theory skills.
Furthermore, I think this develops extreme self-confidence because you know that you will make extremely intelligent decisions.
I'm interested if someone who is an expert on game psychology or a similar field could comment on this this from his perspective, even if it turns out that my theory contradicts observations/experimental psychology.
Oh, and watch house of cards. That show is gold for game theory. Look at how fucking calm he is in any situation! He is a master if his own actions.
I'm relatively new here, but I have lurked andvread a lot if RP stuff for a while now. I'm interested in how this will be received.
