For the most part the author makes an interesting argument that the rise in women's status has made it more difficult for them to find acceptable, stable partners.

However, this isn't necessarily true:

Given the fact that men are not, as a general rule, hypergamous, any woman at or below his level is a potential mate

Research based on speed dating and online dating stats have shown that men do have some standards. Most men have a 'floor', a certain level of attractiveness in women that he will not sink below. Since this floor is mostly determined by appearance, however, the increase in womens' economic power and social status hasn't had an effect on mens' mate selection process.

The generalized observations are what we know to be true, however, his laziness in numbers can make the whole article dismissable by someone who isn't afraid to attack a straw man.

I don't have any sources, but I sincerely doubt that there are (representatively) 10 men in the 10% category, 9 in the 10-20% category, 8 in the 20-30% category, etc. I would guess that it is generally flat until a certain point around near the upper class. (If someone can find actual numbers, please post them.)

A pyramid? Maybe. Does his point stand anyway? Yes. But quoting numbers like this is a hand-waving, pseudo-statistical smokescreen.

Upvote anyway. These general truths need to be restated often.
