This won't work. Women don't want to code because they don't want to code. If a university offered free degrees on childhood development for males I still wouldn't go.
I don't understand why this is such a point of contention.

You don't reason or apply logic to feminists. You just do token things relating to their pet projects and act excited to appease them so they don't cause PR nightmares for your company.

Basically no white males. I see the value in a program like this, but why not just open it to anyone.

Because equality, shitlord!

Google released their yearly diversity report a few weeks back and a lot of the media jumped on it because it showed that Google is primarily made up of white and Asian males. This is nothing surprising, however, there was a lot of noise being made. To quell it, this is googles solution. Its actually a pretty cheap and easy marketing campaign. Google doesn't have to spend any money and they get great PR from it. Its a pretty smart play.

If any of you guys open a big company realize this is brilliant on there part. Host a small low cost coding program, keep the feminist/manginas off their ass for a while. Any company that goes against feminism/PC culture crashes to the ground.

Yep. It won't work, and google knows that.
All the guys I know who turned out to be programmers were coding before they were 12. Girls at that age were too busy with their hobbies, 'friends' and 'shopping'.

Isn't this the definition of discrimination?
If women want into IT, they already have every possible advantage in signing up. They have since the inception of affirmative action. This is just going to be the exact same women who are already doing IT related majors trying to get in with Google, which I'm realising as I type this is probably their endgame.
The vast majority of women just don't want into IT. You can drag a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

What else is a true minority at Google? And clearly subject to discrimination?
Programmers over 40 years old.
If Google offered free courses to this disadvantaged IT minority group, would there be many people who deeply wanted to take them and have a strong talent and drive to succeed? You betcha!
Would Google hire the top students? You betcha not!

This is BS. So it is our fault that we are men and decided to get into coding? So that means we have to force other people into it by giving it away for free? This is how the market and quality of product gets watered down. Affirmative action is against males.

Believe it or not, this program is largely of no practical consequence to both males and females. The men that really want to be programmers, the majority of them learn it independently and get certified. Here Google is planning to give lessons to women who will then still have to pay to get certified but surprise surprise most women want nothing to do with coding and so Google won't get much return from this program (and spots for males won't be taken by women). In the end this is a master move and shuts up the feminist argument against Google.
