I am a bit overweight (I've always kept my football size, I was a lineman/fullback.) but for some reason I've never had a second chin, nor that bloated hambeast face. Probably why I can still TRP effectively without being cut. Beards just "work" for me. Mine's something like this but more trim. For obvious reasons I'm not going to put my own picture up here. Also helps when you have green eyes, and an intimidating presence. Women go nuts for that shit. Like (And I'm going to quote Shakespeare here.) Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing once said, "A man without a beard is less than a man."

My beard is very similar to that too.

Ive found life is just better with a beard.

Nothing looks good on fat men: beards or clothes

[–]_MrMan_[S] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I dont like extremely long beards either, but I like them longer than stubble.

For those with wide faces they should go with a van dyke, anchor, hollywoodian, or balbo beard. They elongate the face.

4-6 weeks? Dude, I'll look like a terrorist.

I already have more hair on my chest than on my head.

[–]_MrMan_[S] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Ha well everybody is different. Some guys can grow a full beard in 2 weeks and others it takes 2 months.

Don't you dare shave regardless.

[–]cagethepepper 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

I shave every 3 days. I don't shave every day cuz it makes my skin dry, so I get 3 days of decent 5 o clock shadow. I get more compliments on that, than when I got my beard on.

One thing I should add: There are women out there who DETEST men with beards. But for everyone one of those, there is one who LOVES that shit. A lot.

EDIT: One more thing, guys, if you have chest hair, FLAUNT IT. It's hilarious for me when I'm wearing a low-cut shirt or a deep-ish V shirt and I'm having a conversation with a girl and see her eyes drifting towards my chest up to 3 or 4 times.

[–]_MrMan_[S] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Thats why I love beards. They instantly polarize people, especially women. Like I said you stand out so the ones who love beards will flock to you and the beard will do most of the work from there.

And brother I'm all about my chest hair too. I shaved it a few times when I was younger but never again. Theres nothing more beautifully manly than being ripped with a beard and some chest hair. The completely hairless bodybuilders out there sadden me.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why would anyone shave their chest? It's a gift! And it beats socks for Christmas :)

Napoleon: How long did it take you to grow that mustache?

Pedro: Couple of days.

Napoleon: I wish I could grow one! jams tator tots into his mouth

I've worn a short (3 on the trimmer), but full-face beard since Iraq, and truly wish I had grown one sooner.

The way I am treated with a beard vs without is like night vs. day. I get so much more respect.

I think this is particularly important to blond/fair-haired males. Many people around the world are hardwired to assume that blond hair = immaturity, and a beard mitigates that.

In fact, I think about how I was treated in many situations, and I realize now that people only thought that they could get away with it because I was the young blond kid.

16 years old, can't grow any significant facial hair. Things are looking grim

[–]_MrMan_[S] 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're a spring chicken. Have patience. Enjoy being a kid while you still are one and the beard will find you in due time.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That reminds me, I need a haircut and to trim my beard.

[–]fuk_offe 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I have to do mine every 2 weeks because after that it itches too much and makes my face get many pimples and irritated from the curly, thick hairs.

[–]nerdyfitnessguy 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You get used to it. It sucks for the first month.

[–]_MrMan_[S] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do you wash and moisturize it? The itchiness goes away after 2-3 weeks so try to stick it out. Some cortizone cream would help too if it's really itchy. Push through lad.

I wish

[–]Theophagist -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Meh, the most facial hair my emnployer will let me have is a cop 'stache. In ultra liberal California where people with full tattoo sleeves get hired at Lenscrafters I'm not allowed to grow a professional beard.

[–]_MrMan_[S] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That's a shame. Work is where some beards go to die. I don't get it either because men are respected more with a well kept beard, especially if you have a babyface.

Beards seem to be getting more mainstream these days, but it's funny how tattoos are even more mainstream now since beards are natural. Just another aspect of masculinity being cut down.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Are you trying to justify your neckbeard? What if I like clean shave?

[–]_MrMan_[S] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then keep shaving doofus
