Friend told me about a shit test in a TV show and I have no idea how to counter it.

Situation is that the girl lies about having gone to college when she instead only went to community college. The guy finds out and says that if she's uncomfortable with it, he'll encourage her to go to College. She asks if he wants her to go to College, he said it sounds like something she wants.

She retorts, "So, it's okay with you if I'm not smart?"

He says, "Yes." FAIL

Granted, this is scripted TV and what not, but I would think that there should be a way to rise above this trap and respond properly. I'm not sure how and thought I'd throw it out for ideas.
