I started off as your average blue pill guy: white knighting, believing that friendship would get me a relationship, and all the usual bullshit. I lifted, I wasn't a terrible looking guy by any means, and I'd get a decent amount of attention. One day, I thought I'd found "the one" (sophomore year of high school; I cringe every time I think about it) in a girl I'd known for a couple years (we'll call her Jill). Huge mistake.
This bitch played me. I took her to homecoming and I got to dance with her all of twice, but only after she'd been dancing with a million other guys. It's been months since I decided I wanted a relationship with her so I tell her and she starts playing these mind games with me every time I try to talk to her about it.
"I care about you so much more than you will ever know."
"I love you so much, but I just don't know about a relationship."
"It's not like I haven't thought about a relationship, but (insert bullshit excuse here)."
Stupid me didn't get it and it resulted in me being shunned by my friends and my teammates (well-deservedly) after I ignored all of their attempts to make me open my eyes and swallow the red pill. Likewise, I saw my performance in things like my academics, my athletics, and my friend circles dwindle. I was angry. I was angry at myself, but I couldn't be angry at her, because after all, she was "the one."
Jill was crazy. She got incredibly angry whenever I got attention from another girl because she couldn't puppeteer me as well anymore and would lead me on to believe that she had intentions of dating me. I'd stupidly throw away these girls and focus all of my attention on her, in some cases even purposefully sabotaging whatever relationship I had with one just for a chance with her. I got her Christmas gifts, overpriced Starbucks drinks, and all the like without getting anywhere with her while she was out getting fucked up with guys way older than her. I was so sad she wouldn't reciprocate my feelings and it definitely affected my mental health and social life; I kept figuring she'd come around and that she'd see me for her soulmate like they showed me in the movies and that she'd leave all those druggie douchebags behind. I was pretty stupid.
The breaking point came junior year after I went to a party with my best friend who is actually naturally RP and claimed to be my wingman. Long story short, Jill bitches me out for trying to talk to her, watches me slip on a drink and break my nose (my fault) while making out with my "wingman," and ends up going to third base with him. I woke up that morning and after remembering everything, it's like something snapped inside of me. But that was a good thing.
I waited by our cars and the moment the two came out, they were trying to look at me and apologize. I'd never thrown a punch in my life, but I ended up lunging at my friend and beating the shit out of him (making his deviated septum worse in the process) all the while being a bitch about it and whining about how he "took the girl I loved." Jill runs away to her car and leaves, while he and I begin to talk. I end up forgiving him because he was drunk, but also because I realized that I didn't give a shit about one girl not wanting me back anymore.
Same day, I fly up to New York for vacation and I'm incredibly upset the whole thing happened, but I have this relief that I've finally let this girl go. I end up being a riot at all the parties I go to up there and actually get with a few girls- more than I'd ever gotten back home, though, so I was pleased. Why? I attributed it to just being out of a place where people already had preconceptions about my behavior and being able to be someone confident around strangers. In the midst of my debauchery, someone led me to r/TRP and then it all kind of clicked.
I started reading r/TRP and trying to learn from it. It all seemed so outlandish at first- could I really do this? I know I was treating women differently up north, but that was because I was in a different environment. Continued browsing knocked sense into my head and by the time I walked back into school, I was the same person I was up north; I was calm, capable, and above all, confident. I regained all the friends I'd lost and became even better friends with them since I was "one of the bros" now, started talking to and seeing girls casually, and life was good. Jill was pissed I was no longer her loyal puppet and started puppeteering this obese and lazy kid who's so into her; her anger with me was so obvious, he started shit-talking me for "trying to steal his girl" and kept trying to make advances on her which she kept rejecting. Poor guy.
Come present-day at my after-prom party, I'm meeting new girls and getting numbers and the like. While in a huge group having a good time, Jill just looks and me and tells me she's angry with me. Why? Because a female friend of mine took me to an expensive music festival (she actually cited this as a reason) and she thought I hated her. I didn't want to start a scene (especially while she was drunk) so I sat and listened to her complain about how she didn't want me to hate her and how she's unhappy with life and the like, trying to get me back onto her hook. While this was happening, her puppet schmuck who took her to prom gets incredibly jealous and angry and comes over to interrupt the conversation and pours her a drink even though she keeps saying no and is clearly trying to get rid of him. By the end of it all, she asks me how I feel and I answer,
"I just hope you're happy."
Translation: "You can't play me anymore."
Taking the red pill has been one of the best decisions I've made in my life; I'm an incredibly happy and outgoing person now and every day has just been about self-improvement. I don't claim to be some master pick up artist; I still browse r/TRP and take note of what other people are doing right that I'm doing wrong and learn from my mistakes. I'm currently in a situation where one of my blue pill friends is angry that I'm unhappy with his "loyal" girlfriend and accusing her of cheating on him, and another is angry that I'm unhappy at the girl who's cheating (sound familiar?) on her "douchebag boyfriend" with him. I realize that I can't make them swallow the red pill, but seeing where they are now and realizing that I used to be there and that I've come so far is just so unreal. No guy will touch Jill now because of her reputation of having drunkenly hooked up with her schmuck puppet and I'm able to just laugh while not only seeing other girls now, but while just feeling overall great and confident. Life is good.
tl;dr: If you're hung up on a girl, cut your losses and take the red pill now; you'll grow, get bitches, and as an added reward, piss off the girl who you led you on by succeeding.
