The title’s a joke.

Anyways...

If You Want to Actually Unplug, Be More Practical

Every man, at some point, expresses a desire to unplug from the matrix. How often do we hear guys say stuff like:

"There's no way I'm going to spend the rest of my life making money for someone else. I gotta get my side-business going."

or

"I'm done with this country, man. Marriage here is a trap, the politicians are crooked, and the lifestyle is unhealthy. Maybe I'll move to South America."

or

"I'm finished dating American women - they are beyond repair. It's either foreign girls or no-strings-attached Tinder sluts from here on out."

I could keep going, but you get the point. Men want to unplug and finally be free. To live on their own terms and avoid the daily indignities of overbearing middle-managers, manipulative girlfriends, soulless work, and Blue Pill messaging on every TV station.

We want to create deeply meaningful lives; ones we we’ll feel proud telling our (half-foreign) grandkids about.

The Problem

Blue-Pill indoctrination trains men to rely on their feelings, which gives them a skewed vision of what Freedom actually entails. Like little kids waiting for Christmas, Blue Pilled men think Freedom is this magical thing that might come some day if they just keep waiting.

I know a guy who has hated his job for years. He always claims to be on the verge of leaving to found a startup, but something inevitably happens. "Well, I did just get a raise, so I'll give it another year."

A year later: "turns out X company entered that space and got a ton of venture funding. No way I could compete now."

A month after that: “Hey know what would make a great app…”

I know another guy whose main way of "unplugging" is drinking. Sure, he’ll talk all day about faults in the system, but he doesn’t actually plan to do anything about it. Well, occasionally he’ll have some vague scheme, but for all intents and purposes he’s accepted his lot.

I know another guy who talks about unplugging like it's a fantasy movie or something. "Yeah man, once I save up enough I'm going to quit my job and go on this epic trip. I’m more comfortable on the road I’ve realized."

“That's dope,” I say, “but then what?”

"Ummm..well…hmmm…get another job I guess."

The Truth

Unplugging will make you infinitely happier, but if you're new to TRP, it might look different than you're imagining. There are many beta fantasies about what Freedom entails. Guys have a Hollywood idea of freedom that doesn’t actually exist (why do you think so many ‘stars’ turn into drug addicts, etc.?)

Unplugging is not about escaping. I cannot stress that enough. There is no escape! In fact, escapist activities (drinking, some types of travel, etc.) are a built-in part of the matrix. That's the whole point of soma in Brave New World.

Unplugging also isn’t about rebelling. When you start learning how the world actually works, you might find yourself getting angry and wanting to lash out. However, it’s totally beta to equate Freedom with "flipping off The Man" or "rebelling against society." Alpha men don't have masters in the first place and therefore don't regress into the equivalent of teenagers who hate their parents. Now, you can still ‘go your own way’ and disregard (or even battle against) mainstream social trends, but you do so from a strong, masculine Frame, not one that is weak and attention seeking.

Being Alpha is about deriving confidence from having the mindset of an Owner. It's being very happy, and therefore always staying in a calm and logical state of mind. Again, things like wild partying might seem to bring freedom at first, but this is actually just a feeling that has no basis in reality. Strive to live in the real world.

Don’t expect your life to turn into Fantasy Land once you unplug. Starting a business, creating a passive revenue stream, or whatever else you want to do take massive amounts of work. Once you get there it will be great, but it’s not going to look like a music video.
