I'm not sure how regret fits into the alpha/beta dichotomoy; I suspect that it doesn't.
I can't imagine living 75 years without a single regret. Good on you if you can pull it off.
I think what matters is what you DO about your regrets. Do you wallow in bitterness and self-pity? Or do you keep striving to be the best version of you? And do you mentor the next generation so they can avoid similar mistake? The only thing that really sets us apart from chimps is our ability to efficiently pass knowledge to future generations so they can have a leg up.

Regret is normal and human. Just like sadness, anger, happiness and every other emotion. It's weak and pathetic if you linger over it and don't continue to move forward. I regret plenty of shit. I regret not picking up some groceries on my way home.

There are two sides to the regret coin. Regret, at the fundamental level, is about having self doubt and shitting on yourself for decisions that you've made. Two paths exist forward from there. Either you sink deeper into the pitfall of regret, wallowing in it and losing yourself in "might have been" and "what if". On the other hand, the RP approach to regret is to simply recognize that what you did is solely your responsibility. Once you recognize that, you can analyze how your choices led to an outcome you regretted. Once you learn from your mistakes, you put them behind you and move forward. Putting your mistakes behind you without learning from them is as bad as wallowing in self pity. If you don't make mistakes, how do you learn to become the better version of yourself that knows not to make those mistakes again?

A funny thing about regret is, it's always better to regret something you have done, than something you haven't done.

Regret is not a sign of weakness, it helps you shape your life in a possible way. If you ate too much food and start to feel ill you'll regret it and eat less the next time (unless you are an idiot like me).
Edit: If you have no regrets, GG, you have lived a good life to this point.

if the world was full of people that didn't feel regret we'd have a pretty degenerate society. on the one hand don't let regrets cripple you and prevent you from living your life, on the other hand don't be some sociopathic fuck who just screws with people and doesn't feel anything.

no..? it seems what people find as 'beta' here is when a dude fucks up by marrying a chick he doesn't like, or i don't know.
