There's a huge difference between telling jokes and being quick witted. The latter is much more preferable.

I tell jokes to other dudes but not to women. I exclude them because they're too sensitive. When deliberately and obviously excluded they seem even more interested but no matter how hard they beg I'll never share my jokes with them. Here's one of my personal favorites:

This old guy and his broad are married but they hate each other. One night he stumbles home plastered out of his mind with a sheep under his arm. His wife is lying on the couch watching tv when he staggers in the door and says, "This is that fuckin pig I told you about." She starts laughing and says, "That's a sheep you sloppy drunk." He turns to her and says, "Shut the fuck up. I wasn't talkin to you."

Don't tell jokes man. Not only should you be having natural conversations but it screams "give me validation!" Total frame killer as far as I'm concerned.

Be funny if you want but only within context of the situation, this isn't year 6 (5th grade) anymore dude.
