Maximum utility is a basic economic concept and can be applied to almost anything. Lets apply this to male/female relationships. What type of lifestyle yields the greatest maximum utility?

Most red piller's will probably argue that leading the bachelor lifestyle and always spinning 3+ plates at a time yields the greatest utility. Blue pillers may argue that having a long lasting marriage with someone you love yields the greatest utility. So what is the truth?

I think the truth is, it depends on the person. Different strokes for different folks. But a deeper truth may in fact become apparent when attempting to figure out natures intentions.

Understanding nature can be quite difficult, but it is of my personal opinion that the default human mating cycle is of 2-7 years for long term relationships. Nature wants you to meet, fall in lust, procreate, raise a child through its infant and possibly toddler stages, and then separate so that you can diversify your genes with a new partner.

I wont go into detail towards why I believe that this is the basic formula nature has made for humans, but its primarily based on observation.

After a period of 2-7 years, the romantic relationship is generally over. This number can be altered by having more children, or with particularly poor or good matches. If the relationship remains after this period it usually evolves into something less romantic and more familial. Romance does however re-spark and dwindle at different periods of a relationship.

So my hypothesis would be that utility is maximized by having long term relationships with the understanding that they are likely going to end after a period of 2-7 years, but with a possibility they could continue further. Furthermore, finding the right person to have these relationships with may be difficult and during the inbetween time it may be best to spin plates until you do find "the one".

I have observed many people over the years, and the happiest are rarely the guys who are fucking many chicks, even hot ones. There is some kind of emptiness they have inside, its a shallow, sex driven, instant gratification binge with no real long term gains. As they age, they either become very unhappy, alone, or settle for someone and turn into the "beta" they used to make fun of.

On the other hand, I see people that do the whole marry one person and stay with them for your whole life ordeal "usually from a non american culture". I see that their relationship becomes non romantic and very familial. They lack passion, but they have companionship.

Then I see the people in the middle. The guys who arent man whores, but look for long term relationships that will work. They are at a middle ground and seem to find the most happyness. They go through serious hardships during breakups, but then find someone new and do it over again.

So perhaps this whole concept of "the one" actually does exist. But its not exactly what we thought. They arent "the one" and only person youll be with the rest of your life. They are just "the one" for you at this point in your life. Understanding its temporary can also make it more beautiful. At the time, you want it to last forever, and there is the minute possibility that it could last a very long time, but realistically you know that this love will one day end. Perhaps you can cherish it that much more because you know its finite.
