Hidden cameras sound like a start. If that's too costly for you I suppose your mobile camera will have to do (might have to go into hiding so you don't "spoil" your evidence). What you do with the evidence is up to you - go to the police or upload it on youtube/other platforms. Either way she deserves what's coming to her. Don't know if that's good advice, but that's what I'd do.

Depends on the country you are in I guess.

However there is one bigger taboo that hitting a woman. That is abusing a child. Just like the guy is always wrong if they get accused, so it is with child abuse.

Your dad is fucked and there is nothing you can do if he allows it. But you on the other hand has all the power (if you are willing to exercise it).

My mom called the cops on me and is very abusive (im 16). Best advice is too go radio silent on her. Never argue with her and keep the convo short.

Don't give into the pressure of feeling you have to act. I tried to do something to stop my mom once and i ended up having the police called and i was strapped into a stretcher and put into a hospital for 24 hours like i was insane for trying to stop her. Seriously just make yourself scarce.

Go privatly to the Child Protection Agency. They are bound by privilege so they can't tell on you.

It is basically a pre-emptive strike cementing your original role as victim. Your mom physically abuses you and drinks - make stuff up. You know no victim blaming if shit goes wrong.

When Mommy calls for the police you tell them in a very vivid way that you already went to the CPS. No judge touches child abuse with a 10 ft pole.

This is standard behavior of traditional Indian households, most mothers are strict, masculine, and sometimes abusive. They are raised that way in India it not right.

The good thing is, if you were smart Raj you would know you also have thousands of Child Abuse hotlines and they contact the police for you if your mom lays a hand on you. Since you are a minor, you can happily have your mom in a lot of trouble IF you film on your phone or record secretly her abuses.

You are in a difficult position for sure. Coming from this type of life myself I feel for you and understand your position. Your father is a lost cause. He is too old and conditioned to be malleable and will live this hell until death or divorce.

To look at the different ways this could play out you need to concern yourself with the legal angle.

If you contact Social Services or Police you run the risk of having being blamed and having the tables turned on you. You will be the one to go to juvenile detention, jail or a mental ward of sorts.

Social Services have the option of removing you from the home as well. You'd first be placed in foster care then a family member would have to go to court and petition to have you placed in their care.

If you contact SS you better have some very good evidence like video or a bruise or two, because your word alone at your age it is going to be hard to remove you from your home. You are at an age you can emancipate from your parents so they will be less invested to remove you.

Those telling you to go radio silent are giving good advice as well. There will be times you cannot avoid your mother and her rage. Even staying in your room will not be enough. So I can recommend this as was recommended to me when I was your age and helped.

Get involved in as many extra curricular activities as possible away from the home. This doesn't mean join every club your school has to offer. This would include long nights at the library, weekend stays at friends or family homes, long walks, hanging out in the gym either at an establishment or your HS gym. Anything that keeps you out of the house until curfew will keep you away from most of the danger and away from any spill over from your parents arguments.

I did the first one when I was around 12. It was a long painful process of therapy, court sessions, social service meetings, lawyer meetings, different foster care homes and so on.

The second way was at 16 and was just as hard, but I was in control. I wasn't forced to all the bullshit that comes with being involved with the social system and became a non dependent person at a young age.

The choice is yours just weigh your options with some insight. I wish you the best.

My mom is like that just as well. I was eating some wings watching Youtube yesterday, just winding down, I had been at college, then checking out a spot where I'm gonna put a burger joint, and she just came in and started taking food, bugging me, I told her after a while that I'd like it if she left me alone. She started recording me, telling me she wanted me to see myself be gross eating wings alone on a Friday night and called me a fucking loser for not being out. I told her to stop that shit and leave me alone. She started hitting me and shit, bro, I'm 21. I've had a lot of threats of cops. I have a damn reflex every time I'm around her like she's about to hit me. Yeah, I'm pushing for independence as well, good thing is my dad's another option for me to live while I get that. Mothers can be abusive sometimes and it sucks not to feel safe in your own home. Be smart about what you do around her, toughen up your dad if you can.
