Reading body language is an important social skill to have, not just when dealing with the opposite sex, but in any social situation, from hanging out with friends to sitting meeting clients.

If you came here through the route of seduction, then you may have skimmed the surface of learning body language when learning about Indicators of Interest. However, there is so much more to it, from understanding the concept of clusters, to the importance of mirroring, how to demonstrate dominance with something as simple as hand placement.

Read this post, get a hold of the book I recommends, and open up a whole new dimension of interaction with everyone you meet.

What are clusters?

Any good sources for reading?

Pretty good read and concisely covers the basics. Even if you are somewhat body language savvy it's a good refresher.

This article seems to reiterate a point that you come across often when reading about confidence, improved social interaction and the like.

Having a good attitude, a good mood, being pleased with yourself your situation and where you're headed is more important than any body language you could teach yourself. When you're unhappy, or dissatisfied your body will still try to betray you in it's motions and posture.

I find that whenever I'm truly in a good mood I adopt most of this body language 100% of the time. If there are things in your life causing you dissatisfaction, you should work to change them, before you can be good with others you've gotta be good with yourself.

It sounds like some self help pep talk bullshit, but it's true.

This is true, but good body language can also help improve your mood, and can increase your confidence: http://www.ted.com/talks/amy_cuddy_your_body_language_shapes_who_you_are.html

I've found it can help you feel more comfortable in situations where you are out your comfort zone too.

Yup, it's a two-way street. Behaviors/Body language, physiology and mood are all wrapped up in a cycle where it is difficult to determine which exactly is the cause and which is the effect...

One of the coolest things I learned when studying biological psychology. I believe it's the reason why "fake it till you make it" works, why a changed physiology (mainly through diet + exercise or exogenous hormone supplementation if that's your kind of thing) works, and why positive thinking works.

Act, think, and take on the habits of the powerful/alpha man you want to be and fairly quickly it becomes a reality. I personally started with changing my body language to be more open and dominant then that became natural in about a month of working on it everyday. I then changed my diet to be vaguely paleo (really I just started eating a shit ton of eggs and nothing else). After a couple more months I felt a natural compulsion to be active and exercise (really just a positive restlessness) and then boom my mood was better than it had been in years, and I found I could finally put on muscle. Sunlight also helps a ton with mood at least for me. If I got my blood checked you would probably see a huge increase in my natural production of androgens but that's just my untested speculation...
