There's this feeling, we all experience it from time to time. It's been given the name, ASMR for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and it's defined as, a physical sensation characterized by a pleasurable tingling that typically begins in the head and scalp, and often moves down the spine and through the limbs.
A subreddit community formed around the idea of finding youtube videos that elicit this response, and more recently people have been creating videos intentionally designed to produce ASMR. Here are a couple of examples:
Here's why I posted this to TRP: these videos feature women intentionally behaving in ways that can only be described as *gasp!* feminine. This is such a rare thing that people have no other way to describe it. "What is this feeling?? My god, what is this?" Yeah, that's the way it feels when women act that way.
Note, I posted the eye exam one to highlight that I'm not talking about a gender role here. She's (pretending to be) a doctor. She's not in a kitchen or whatever you think a gender role is. It's about the softness of her voice and so on.
Also, I'm not suggesting that only women can elicit this response. Indeed, it was from this video of a German man that I learned of the ASMR community. What I am suggesting is that femininity is sufficient in an of itself to produce ASMR, and I'm suggesting that femininity has become rare enough for people to be instinctively seeking it out without even consciously knowing what it is they search for.
