First off, welcome. Nothing wrong with being curious.

Second, these kinds of posts are better left to /r/asktrp. But since you're here and I've got some free time, let's move right along.

What exactly, is the 'red pill'.

In very basic terms, The Red Pill is a framework with several calls to action. The framework simply states: the modern world caters heavily to women and their agendas, and you must adapt to the modern world before you can thrive in it. The calls to action are things we can actively do to lay the foundation for a better lifestyle, in context to our true surroundings, e.g. lift, dress well, understand social dynamics as they actually are (not what media tells us), ...

Beta/ Alpha. Are those terms used exclusively used for sex or emotional stuff or just day-to-day things?

Is it bad to be beta in that sense, or, any other sense?

These kinds of questions tell me you didn't really read the sidebar, but clicked the top few links, realized there was a lot of stuff, and decided to post instead of reading through it. That's okay, you're sixteen. However, the sidebar is really filled with great material and the Alpha/Beta definitions are all over it.

In short, Alpha Male is an ideal that we can all point to and strive to become. What is that? It's a guy who can keep his emotions in check (appear stoic) where others would buckle. A guy who projects qualities like 'leadership' and 'intrinsic value'. A guy who knows how to coolly and calmly handle whatever life throws at him. We call these types of things "maintaining frame" (not losing your cool). This description is pretty accurate but incomplete, and the sidebar goes into better detail. Can anyone be a 100% alpha male 100% of the time? No. Is it something to strive for? Definitely in social situations.

If you need refrence for some reason, maybe to try to understand why I'm asking what I am. I'm a sixteen year old gay guy from the US.

I don't think you being a homosexual should deter you from the material in this sub. A lot of it talks about society, men's rights, and other important things. "Game" and "getting girls" (sexual strategy) is one important facet of the sub, but certainly not its only purpose. The content filters can help you avoid content that doesn't interest you.

Could this mean I'm an idiot?

Yes.

Beta/ Alpha. Are those terms used exclusively used for sex or emotional stuff or just day-to-day things?

They are confusing terms. Originally alpha was the leader of the group, top dog, etc. Came from research into animal/pack behaviour.

Alpha was contextual. Remove the alpha, and a beta rises up to take their place. Put a bigger male in his place, and alpha becomes beta.

This is only partially holds true in human societies. The alpha male is not always the most attractive to females. Popularity can be more important.

Alpha (on this sub) has come to mean a range of behaviours that are intrinsically attractive to women. Beta likewise.

A while back, I sent this as a PM to a person who asked the same stuff as you are:

First, this comment was made by another TRP member:

I'll actually address the quote:

"Women control which men get it and which men don't."

Not to desirable men they don't. This is how it appears to man who is perceived by women as having nothing to offer. But for desirable men, THEY are the ones that determine which women they are going to have sex with. It's not a male / female thing, it's a desirable / undesirable thing. This guy felt entitled to the most desirable women, who were all chasing men more desirable than he, and it drove him crazy.

Men are usually the pursuers and instigators with regard to sex, although women will non-verbally signal interest, it is up to men to make the first moves.

As for the whole "women are irrational beasts who only go after bad men," this is how it appears, again, to the undesired dweeb. Of course the OTHER men are bad because they're not him! Only HE is the perfect gentlemen. Bullshit. The other guys were more desirable to the women, so they slept with them. He just doesn't want to admit it to himself. He's not the "perfect gentlemen." The perfect gentlemen can have as much sex as he can handle because he knows how to charm the ladies. This kid had no abilities whatsoever in that department. What he was observing was hypergamy, but he didn't call it that; in his mind it was the OPPOSITE of hypergamy, because in his mind HE was the BEST, and the other guys were worst. Had he subscribed to TRP, he would have thought, "They're going for those guys because they're buff, socially intelligent, charming, etc. I need to step up my game!" Had he subscribed to PUA, he would have thought, "I need to try opening more sets and doing rune readings, etc."

This is better put than I could have said it. And this is the very heart of TRP's message: the idea that, if you're having problems in your love life, it's because there's specifically something wrong with you that needs to be addressed.

And nowhere else is this emphasized so clearly. Most people are obssessed with stupid, New-Agey tripe like, "it's ok, there's somebody out there for everyone!" "You shouldn't have to change who you are, you'll find someone who loves you for you!" etc

This sort of advice is well intentioned poison. A guy who women percieve as weak willed and unattractive can't "just be himself" because being himself is the source of his problems. He must change. But changing who he is goes against his instincts, and those around him will be disturbed by his changing himself, making himself into a new man. It's a lot for someone to take in, to take a hard look at himself and say, "I only have myself to blame. I let people walk all over me. I never follow my passions. I apologize for having wants and needs, instead of living without regrets."

There's what you could call a forcefield of denial taking place for new guys; I certainly had one. What I mean is, we need to have all our illusions stripped away from us. We need to fully and unmistakably realize that we, as men, are the only ones who can decide how our social and romantic lives pan out. Put simply, we need a rhetorical kick in the ass. That's the reason the language at TRP is so seemingly harsh. The harsh language is a much needed shock to the system, in order to force us to abandon wishful thinking in favor of clear eyed realism.

This is a very jarring experience. Modern Western society is absolutely addicted to idealism and positive thinking, so much so that a person who is simply a realist is branded "a reactionary extremist" by many. It's framed as "left vs right" but the truth is, the modern dialogue is one of competing forms of utopian idealism. TRP is all about being a realist. And many guys have been so cocooned in the idealist mentality that we refer to as the blue pill, which is really just a way of saying wishful thinking, that having his illusions stripped away makes a guy go through the classic process of grief. But eventually, the man must truly man up, take inventory of himself, figure out who he wants to be in life, and remake himself into that man.

The words we use are harsh, but they serve an important function. And to apologize to anyone for the way we speak, or to change ourselves to be more palatable to the masses, would be going against what we stand for. Most of us already spent the better part of our lifetimes apologizing for our words and trying to change ourselves to make everyone else comfortable. That's where we went wrong, and we will never make that mistake again.

This isn't a place for people who can't read between the lines. And this is intentional. If a man can't figure out the subtext of what's been written here, in the casual privacy of his spare time, how is he going to be able to manage the subtext and emotional intensity of unpredictible social interactions? If someone isn't quick in their seat, how can they expect to ever be quick on their feet?

Not everything is spelled out. Each man going through the process we call "unplugging" needs to use his own judgement and instincts. To spell everything out would deny him that Eureka moment that comes from putting things together on your own. Without that, knowledge won't sink in the way you want it to.

You never really got this sub, because you didn't lurk at all. Read the sidebar and some posts before you post next time. Also, you being gay is totally irrelevant here. You come off as ignorant at best and as a troll at worst.

To answer you though:

Men and women are not even close to equal, they're very different in many ways.

If you enjoy being a beta then it's okay, if not then change. So far nobody here has come here asking to learn to be more beta.

The red pill (I was never a big fan of the name either) is seeing things for how they are. It's shedding the cognitive dissonance that is caused when you are told the world is one way, but it feels like that's far from the truth.

It's not a group with a formulated opinion or mission statement, it's just a bunch of individuals who now have standardized language to communicate with each other and a safe place full of PC bullshit to talk about things. A lot of people don't learn anything new when they come here, they just learn that they're not crazy.
