So this is something that has been floating in my mind and I wanted to write, it is a pattern you see everywhere in society, but you aren't aware of it.

Doctors, politicians, therapists, activists, gurus, coaches, their jobs revolve around problems. These people do not care to fix the root cause of the problem, only the symptom of the problem. This is because their jobs and livelihood depend on it, they have no desire to fix these problems. Most of the time, these people create problems because it is part of their identity, if the problem was to go away, their identities would go away. The doctor who spent 10 years in med school cannot imagine losing his identity. I'm sure you've met that social activist who dedicates their lives to anger and protesting, and all that nonsense, what's point, why not just enjoy your life? Because this person has made an identity out of it, and it is their livelihood.

Today I realized that one of the top feminists in Toronto is one of the girls I pulled that I made out with and she gave me LMR. This girl was loving our make out session, it seemed like she hadn't had affection or love in a long long time, and she was craving it so much. But her ego, her identity stopped herself, what would it mean if she had sex with a man in a one night stand? It would mean she would have to give up her hate for men, she would have to give up part of her identity that is dependent on her livelihood.

I would say the majority of people are problem creators, they think they're doing good, because they're not doing anything to move the world forward, their existence prevents the world from moving forward. When your livelihood depends on problems, when you've identified with your "role", then you can never transcend it. You are stuck. You are no longer doing that "work" because you enjoy it, you're doing it because it's who you are, because you've invested so much time into it that you cannot give it up. This is why people do work that they don't enjoy, but they've gotten good at it and their salary went up over time with their skill set. They do not care about the purpose of their work, they just care about maintaining the cycle of problems.

A very very small minority of people are actually passionate about what they do, they genuinely want to see a better place in the world. These people do not get angry when someone questions them, instead they are excited because it means they can grow. They are doing this for themselves, to reach a high level of knowledge and awareness, they're not doing it for money, or ego, or because it's their identity. They're doing it because it is their calling, there is nothing else they can do that will give them eternal satisfaction.

After a while you can tell right off the bat, if this person is a problem solver, or a problem creator. Do they get attached to debates? do they seek to inflame emotions or conversations? Or are they more concerned about the truth, about something that is beyond their identities or their egos?

I'm calling them "problem solvers" but its actually not that, they are beyond problems solving, they are not doing it because it's their livehood, they do not care about being right, or really "solving" the problem. They're doing it because they are genuinely interested in exploring as much as possible and going beyond what there currently is.

Some people I recognize as these minority problem solvers:

Alan Watts

(Funny, I was searching for a good video to post of him, and stumbled upon that one, never seen it before, yet he speaks exactly about what I'm saying in my post)

Virginia Satir (my favourite psychotherapist)

Charles Bukowski

Albert Ellis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKby0E_U_F4

As far as politicians go, Yitzhak Rabin is one of them but he was assassinated. Shimon Peres is another one who is alive today, heard his latest speech at the EU conference, amazing. I suspect Theodore Roosevelt was one of them, and someone tried to assassinate him as well. Usually the good ones get assassinated.

Some famous people who AREN'T interested in solving problems, they know they are bullshit, yet continue to make a livelihood:

  • Tony Robins
  • RSD/Tyler Durden, and 90% of the pua community
  • Deepak Chopra
  • Oprah, and anyone on mainstream TV
  • Barack Obama (although he is better than most in the past few decades), and majority of politicians.
  • The pope, and majority of religious people.

Cheers
