Power Everything in the world is about power

Power struggles throughout history have a cycle. Once power is established, it enjoys some success before it is further abstracted to a larger competition. Power grows from overt to covert over time. Tribes were established power of small communities of people where select few had power. Many tribes competed for power; some vanished and others won out in the power struggle. These became large enough through times of prosperity to become kingdoms. Larger civilizations were formed from these kingdoms. Then by a force of nature, the whole civilization vanishes. But zoom out further into the rest of the world, and there were civilizations thriving there at the same time which continued to live. Sometimes multiple civilizations came into contact and had power struggles which were resolved with large scale wars. The struggle for power and the scale at which this theater takes place just got bigger and bigger. Entire world wars were fought for this power.

The people at the bottom of this food chain are now farmed for their energy and intelligence in exchange for either a chance at the struggle to move up in the chain, or delusion of happiness. The natural alphas will automatically chose the power struggle to feel fulfillment, and the beta would opt for happiness above all. But you see, alpha and beta is not a duality, but a spectrum. How far one belongs in the spectrum is usually indicated by how high up in the food chain he is. But as nature takes its course, this power struggles keeps growing over generations.

This is where the cycle begins. Because we are finite(mortal) beings, we cannot continue the struggle forever, and therefore we have to pass on our genes and assets to give our child an equal or better standing in this struggle. To continue the fight. But as a new generation is born, new natural alphas and betas arrive to restore balance. Because not all alphas produce alphas, and not all betas produce betas, this becomes a layer of nature’s own design surfacing. The remnants of the previous generation’s creations(knowledge, technology, wealth, standard of living) give us a starting point of how far power and control has grown in this world. Wars are no longer fought by men on horses, but are fought by robot drones in the sky. The journey to the top of this pyramid takes generations now, which used to take just one instance of overthrowing your tribe leader and taking over. A poor man can have a child that goes to college, but his intelligence and power reach will only lend him enough to give this child go one step further than he did in his life. By the time this lineage reaches upper middle class, it will have been two to three generations. Getting out of upper middle class and enter the gates lower of upper class will take a boon of an alpha amongst the spread out family tree.

The divisions of power here are even more unclear. Political power can be had directly by entering politics. But there is the road to power through monetary influence. Have enough money in the bank, and a corporation underneath you generating more wealth, and pretty soon, you have politicians under your influence. Seeing these echelons of power players in action is merely a dream if not a movie for the poor peasant working in his cubicle doing 40 hours a week. They say don’t forget where you came from, because it serves as a gauge of how far up the chain you have moved your lineage in life so far.

Because this scale is so large at this point, that there are smaller cycles of power plays happening all the time. Employees competing to move up to management. Managers fighting to move up to executive levels. By this point, because the larger picture has become so obscure to the average population that there are natural bottom feeders who can live off the system and get by with the least amount of work and still live a relatively relaxed life with no ambitions to move the lineage anywhere. But as it happens, nature has built another duality. Men and Women. Women are by design attracted to alpha traits. The bottom feeders with no testosterone will naturally end up alone and die off. Or end up raising other alpha’s sons. Natural selection everybody. Population control happens through nature in so many ways. Disease gets stronger and evolves, populations get thinned out by over crowding and bad conditions. Those too poor and homeless naturally end up stopping their lineage. Who wants to mate with a homeless person?

These layers of nature and power keep the world going further and further into abstracting away our ancestors and their instincts. But still making us a stronger and stronger bunch, because we are the lineage of the stronger genes that managed to survive. Not only survive, but thrive.

The tendency of the universe is to increase entropy. In any natural process there exists an inherent tendency towards the dissipation of useful energy. This same effect can be observed in the growth of power. The cost of attaining the highest power increases exponentially as time passes.
